My biggest mistake in life was not taking the leap sooner.
Since I was a child, I have had a passion for entrepreneurship and always knew that starting a business would be my ultimate goal.
I look back on a graveyard of ideas, many of which could have easily evolved into multi-million dollar companies.
What held me back?
A litany of excuses, and if I'm brutally honest, fear.
'I need a co-founder.'
'It's not the right time.'
'I don't have the money.'
My charisma has always been my strongest suit. I used to get intoxicated by the ability to convince people of my idea's potential, only to pivot to the next thing and ignite excitement for that idea.
In trying to sound clever, I was actually being stupid.
I occasionally saw some money from these concepts, but most remained stagnant and never reached their full potential.
Being an entrepreneur places you center stage. If a venture fails, it's on you. No scapegoats. There's no one else to point fingers at.
If you don't make it, it's because YOU failed.
It's terrifying to think about that.
So, my advice to anyone considering this journey:
- Take the plunge.
- Chase your dream, explore your wildest ideas, and brace for challenges.
- Don't be wooed by every opportunity; commit to an idea and see it through.
- Embrace rejection and failure, learn from them, and come back even stronger.
Consider every failure a badge of perseverance.
Worst case scenario?
It's not for you. That's okay too. But at least you'll live life without the regret of never trying. You can always find a 9-to-5 job if things don't work out.
Just go for it. The journey alone will be worth it!
