I and other well meaning Nigerians won’t stop until Honorable Minister David Umahi act decisively on our roads. Because again, on September 17th, a tragic road accident on the Ogbere axis of the Benin-Sagamu expressway resulted in the loss of eighteen lives. It was reported that a Toyota Hiace vehicle crashed into a severely deteriorated section of the road and that was basically the only cause of the accident. This heartbreaking incident highlights the critical need for immediate repairs on our highways. Ensuring proper maintenance and timely interventions is essential to prevent such devastating accidents in the future. Hon David Umahi needs to prioritize road safety and take decisive action to make our roads safe for all travelers, we won’t stop #fixfederalroadsumahi until national Road Maintenance MasterPlan is unveiled and effectively implemented.

Here is another one for Hon. David Umahi. On the 24th of October, a devastating accident occurred along the Abuja-Jos highway in Plateau State, claiming multiple lives. The crash happened near Hawan Kibo, a notorious stretch of road known for its treacherous terrain and history of accidents. This hotspot for robberies and fatalities has been a death trap for years, with hundreds of lives lost due to the poor road conditions. Residents keep calling the government to fix this road, but obviously it keeps falling on deaf ears . For how long do we continue this Way? I ask again, what would it take to #FixFederalRoadsUmahi ?

@KolaDemolaHQ The government can’t fix every problem; drivers must take responsibility for their actions.

@KolaDemolaHQ Drivers need to be more aware of their surroundings instead of blaming road conditions.

@KolaDemolaHQ It’s frustrating to see how quickly the blame shifts from drivers to the government.

@KolaDemolaHQ People need to stop using the state of the roads as an excuse for their poor driving.

@KolaDemolaHQ @KolaDemolaHQ ,I don't totally agree with you on this. I understand the roads are bad,but not all accidents are caused by poor roads. This tragedy highlights the need for better driver education, not just road repairs.

@KolaDemolaHQ The Truth is that,It’s easy to point fingers at the government, but drivers need to own their mistakes.

@KolaDemolaHQ Instead of blaming the roads, let’s focus on the irresponsible behavior of drivers and think of how to make them change and drive more safely.

@KolaDemolaHQ This is a crisis that demands urgent attention. We owe it to the victims to push for change. That's the least we can do.

Again, on the 2nd of October 2024, barely few weeks ago a tragic accident involving a Toyota Sienna bus, loaded to capacity with passengers and a parked SHACMAN truck underscored the urgent need for road safety improvements. According to witnesses, the truck was parked haphazardly on the road, the truck was laden with granite and parked on the road, shutting down about half of the carriageway. The Toyota Sienna, on top speed, unknowingly crashed into the parked truck from behind. Resulting in a horrific scene that could have been avoided if the Lagos-Badagry road was good and not under construction for years without completion. Ten people died from this accident and many injured, #FixFederalRoadsUmahi, to stop this avoidable and untimely deaths of our people.
