I mean, it's hard to beat the fun of playing with simulated boobs. But what else could players do in a physically simulated game. I'm exploring my physics engine, trying things.

How the car works in our game! #indiedev

This is my game “Drive On It” still in early development but already sooo relatable 😛

When you're working for months on your physics engine, sometimes you just do random things like this, without any particular reason.

Watch our lead developer explain how RTS pathfinding and crowd simulation work together - and why it’s one of the hardest problems in real-time strategy games. Find out how Age of Empires 4 simplifies pathfinding, where StarCraft 2’s crowd sim still struggles, and how we’re solving all of it in ZeroSpace. If you’ve wondered why your army sometimes just gives up, or why great unit movement feels so good, this is for you.

I have an announcement to make: After 20 years designing and building enterprise networks, I am excited to announce that I am changing career fields and have accepted a position as an AI Engineer! But how did a 45-year-old manage to make this career transition? Well, I'll tell you how! First, some background... NETWORK ENGINEER When I got my first position in networking, I loved everything about it. I had very little knowledge in the beginning, but the topic was extremely fascinating to me. I read everything I could find about networking. This rapid pace of learning slowed as I developed experience and expertise. After 10 years, the pace of learning diminished to a tiny trickle. This was when the fun went away. From years 10 to 15, I continued to perform my duties well. But I felt unfulfilled. Thankfully, in 2020, I got the crazy idea that I would build a video game. GAME DEVELOPER Of course, I didn't know how to program, so I selected a no-code game engine called GDevelop. @GDevelopApp is amazing! I also loved that it was open-source software. I started learning by opening templates and making tiny changes to see how it affected the game. I repeated this hundreds of times! Each time, I increased my skills and understanding of how to create games. A few months later, I discovered that I could build game extensions. These extensions enabled anyone to add complex behaviors to their game with just a few clicks. I started publishing dozens of extensions for the GDevelop community to use. YOUTUBER Next, I started creating gamedev tutorials to share my newfound knowledge and passion for game development, and posted them on YouTube. My gamedev channel (@VictrisGames) grew slowly, but now it has over 3,000 subscribers. I even get a small check from @YouTube every few months! OPEN SOURCE GAME ENGINE My contributions of game extensions and tutorial videos did not go unnoticed by the GDevelop team. They offered me a position on the core team, which I was incredibly honored to accept. In this role, I contributed game extensions, game examples, and tutorial videos. It still blows my mind that I get to collaborate with wonderful people at a French startup! SOFTWARE DEVELOPER The more games and extensions I made with GDevelop, the more I wanted to improve GDevelop itself. I realized that the only way for me to do that was to learn the programming language and frameworks used to build GDevelop. This meant JavaScript and React. So I purchased @Udemy courses. I completed several programming courses at my University. VIBE CODING As I was working on my homework for my university classes, I started experimenting with using @ChatGPTapp to generate code. So I asked my professors if I could use AI to help build my class projects. Surprisingly, they said "Yes". I decided to compensate for using AI by greatly increasing the scope of my assigned work. So instead of building a simple string-manipulation script, I built an AI-powered MadLib generator and deployed it on the Internet. (This was my first AI app!) In the fall of 2024, I discovered some amazing AI coding apps that were MUCH faster at creating apps compared to copy/pasting large amounts of text into ChatGPT. My initial favorites were @boltdotnew and @lovable, but I enjoy testing every AI coding tool I can get my hands on. Many of these vibe coding apps provide me with FREE services that enable me to perform testing and publish reviews as they release new updates. HACKATHONS I knew my skills were leveling up when I started winning prizes at Hackathons. I built Cherishable and won 2nd place in a Lovable hackathon. I built OmniVision and won 1st place in a hackathon sponsored by @cerebras. I built SecondWriter for the Bolt hackathon, but I didn't win any prizes... or did I? I demonstrated SecondWriter during my interview for the AI Engineer position that I was just hired for. I consider this a huge win, so the ROI on my weeks of hard work on the hackathon paid off nicely! Hackathons are extremely valuable, and I highly recommend that you participate in them. First, they push you to build and ship something fast (which many builders would never do without a deadline). Second, it's a great place to meet interesting people! (Read the comments to learn about the AI hackathon that I'm hosting) AI ENGINEER Now that I've accepted this new role as an AI Engineer, I'm really looking forward to getting started. I know I have a LOT of learning to do, but as it turns out, learning is really fun! I haven't been this excited since I first got into networking 20 years ago. Thanks for reading my story! To be honest, I'm surprised you made it to the end. :) If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, and I'll try to respond. Cheers! (P.S. I use @base44 to update and host my resume, which includes a fully functional AI chatbot that says nice things about me.)

🧠 Choose GDevelop for its no-code event system: If THIS happens ➡️ Do THAT It's intuitive, visual, and powerful. That's it! youtube.com/watch?v=SySQZP… Try #GDevelop the free, #opensource, 2D and 3D #nocode #gameengine

It's done! I just submitted #SecondWriter, my project for the @boltdotnew hackathon. Everything is now out of my hands, let's hope it does well in the judging phase! I've worked ~80 hours this past week on this project and one for a job interview. I'm super proud of what I've done, and now it's time to let my body and mind rest and recover. I'm excited to be going on a family cruise for the next 2 weeks, from Rome to Barcelona. Thank you, everyone, for your support!
