today i went to the zoo and saw two giant tortoises mating. the male was making sounds and it sounded like an old man with a bad back trying to get off the couch. i do not like tortoises now.

@Autistic_Lauren Having to make myself vulnerable in order to communicate. If I keep it to myself then they can't use it to hurt me. But now they know something about me and they might use it against me like so many others have. So, I guess trusting others enough to communicate my needs.

Asking autistics, what's the hardest part of communicating your needs?

Oh, I kinda get this one. The golden rule isn't really for you to act like everyone else, is for you to behave better than they are. They're being mean, you be kind because you're better. They're being rude, you be polite because you're better. I just wish they'd be more open about what it really means. You're supposed to take the high road and be the better person when people are being rude to you. But they don't say that 🙄

@Autistic_Lauren Idk if this counts as common sense but the golden rule thing, “Treat someone how you want to be treated”. Like if someone is mean to you and you followed the golden rule you would have to be mean back, but then you look like the rude person? I just never understood it.

Asking autistics, what's a piece of "common sense" that never made sense to you?

@Autistic_Lauren Marshmallow, avocado, any fat or gristle in meat, mushrooms, flan, and anything slimy at all. Surprisingly I'm still considered a foodie though. I love trying all kinds of interesting foods as long as they don't fall into these categories
