@Xeon4f145d96s1 As an FY1 on T&O I got fast bleeped by an IMG SHO who was a senior reg in his own country to manage his patient triggering sepsis because he didn't know what to do. Apparently where he qualified he could just right medical review in the notes and someone else would sort it out.

@NFLonDAZN what's the point of me watching your coverage of the Superbowl when you just add your own ads? Give me the full U.S coverage with adverts for every game next year or, along with countless other subscribers, I'm cancelling my subscription to NFL game pass!

@Heccles94 Why would a business absorbed the cost of increasing taxes? No different to a company not absorbing the cost of trump's tariffs.

🆘 Dear Health Secretary @wesstreeting, Did you know that Advanced Clinical Practitioners (Podiatrists, Physios, etc..) are leading cardiac arrests in Plymouth hospitals, putting patient safety at risk? 💀☠️ ⭕️ The Medical Registrar should be the only one leading the code, as patients might need time-critical treatments such as thrombolysis. ⭕️ This is outside the scope of practice for podiatrists and other allied healthcare professionals and requires complex decision-making. ⭕️ Patients might need a bedside Echo to rule out cardiac tamponade, good luck explaining that during the code. All of this has been allowed by the ladder-pulling EM consultants working in Plymouth hospitals.

@DrRJWebb @wesstreeting Yes bro, even EM consultants fast bleep the Med Reg before thrombolysing a patient during a cardiac arrest.

@DrJPGannon @Dr_DeanS A 24 hour on call would be working 24 hours. Calling them on call is a joke, as with the exception of my ICU job, every job I've had resulted in me working constantly if on medicine or getting bleeped at least hourly on surgery. On call implies you have rest, that's not the case.

Why do you need ‘accommodation after a shift’? Do the nursing staff request ‘accommodation’ after a 12-h night shift🧐 With an hours commute each way you’d be better off working a 24-h ‘on-call’ rota: less commuting time, better training opportunities, better continuity of care and much better WLB🧐

First day as ST3. My new commute is over an hour each way. But I do get free parking and free accommodation after a shift. Something ive never been offered before. Makes a huge difference and atleast I have a safe alternative after nights than driving home.

@DrEilidhMaria Would this be the case you were on-call? As annual leave is not normally authorised for incall shifts.

@jabberwock951 @Jirah_House Opening pressures need to be done laying down. A lot of LP's I've done on wards have been to look for interracial hypertension.

@Jirah_House Lying vs. sitting is an interesting one. It's an easier procedure sitting up, but for some reason us less-experienced ward staff seem much more likely to attempt it lying down. Probably a training issue.

Anaesthetist doing an LP: Gown, drapes, theatre cap, full patient monitoring, assortment of needles sizes and styles. Med Reg doing an LP: It took me two hours but I found a spinal needle that rolled under the sofa in the break room, let's go.

Some interesting numbers... 3,125 - the number of Royal College of Physicians fellows who voted in the 2022 presidential election (out of about 10,000). 102 - the number of hours left until voting for the next president closes (12 noon on Monday 14th April). 79 - the number of votes by which the 2022 presidential election was won. 1 - the number of candidates whose surnames allow for a witty (if slightly corny) campaign slogan. If you are a fellow and have already voted, please share these fascinating numbers with others who may not have voted (please repost). Even a handful of votes could make the difference (search for the email from Civica to vote).

@AuldM @ThereseHirst @DPJHodges @MFoxxer I haven't read the book so can't comment on it. But I'm sure the natural resources in Crimea had nothing to do with the land taken in 2014. As for Ukraine Nazis killing russian speakers almost half of Ukraine spoke Russian prior to 2022, so that sounds like Russian propaganda.

Rubio: "President Trump is committed to bringing an end to this conflict, as he said when he campaigned for president. And he wants it to be... end in a way that's fair, he wants it to end in a way that's sustainable". Fine. Complete Russian withdrawal. That's entirely fair.

@AuldM @DPJHodges @MFoxxer That's pretty much what Hitler said about German speakers in Czechoslovakia and Australia. Russia invaded without provocation, they should completely withdraw.

@DPJHodges @MFoxxer Yes, fair. Ukraine had the largest military in Europe outside of Russia. It was backed by NATO, traing, bombs, weapons and £billions. Russia has Every Right to protect Russian speaking people they liberated from the Nazis

A victory for patient safety: our case against the GMC over their failure to properly regulate Associates is now heading straight to the High Court! Mr Justice Chamberlain ruled it raises serious issues for patients and he granted us permission and expedition. bit.ly/AUgoahead

@AmandaPritchard @wesstreeting They're not important, they're part of an MDT that brings no knowledge or skills that another discipline doesn't have. If PA's and AA's suddenly didn't exist tomorrow all that would happen is you'd suddenly need more doctors because they're just being used in place of doctors.

I welcome the review into PA/AA roles announced by @wesstreeting. They are important members of NHS staff. While the NHS is clear these roles are not replacements for doctors, it’s vital we listen to concerns, tackle them & find a way forward that’s right for patients & staff.
Department of Health and Social Care@DHSCgovuk

We've launched an independent review of the Physician and Anaesthesia Associate professions. Led by Professor Gillian Leng, it will look into: ➡️ the safety of these roles ➡️ how they support wider health teams ➡️ their place in patient care More: gov.uk/government/new…
