Stage 4 disasters don't allow investors to get out at "even". Averaging down is how you fuel the disaster. This is something financial advisors won't tell you about, but Stan Weinstein's book makes this clear and gives you the rules to avoid these situations.

Large VIX expiration Wednesday at 9AM ET, wherein ~50% of VIX open interest expires. Here is the open interest for that 3/22 expiration. Lots of calls were in-the-money as of the open, but this AM's -4pt VIX move has crushed those.

Yes, record put volumes. But that isn’t necessarily translating to record put interest. We saw a similar thing on the call volume side at the end of Jan/early Feb. 🤷‍♂️
