@wrong_speak I'm interviewing for a technical job here in Prague and it's literally 1/3 of the equivalent in the US. But I like castles and cathedrals and don't have kids, so the trade off works for me.

Years ago, I was seriously considering moving to Germany. I did a video interview for an IT job.
When they asked me for my salary requirement, I undercut my salary at the time and the lady's face almost exploded from shock.
Needless to say, I never heard back from them. European salaries are terrible and even my low ball salary ask was monumental.

After living in a western country outside the US for a decade I’m so over it. It’s laughable how far behind they are to the US. Fewer choices. Often out of stock of staples. Higher prices. Lower wages. Fortunately it’s not a European historical city with laughably small living spaces. People develop a mindset where they’re proud of having a lower standard of living because they often don’t know what they’re missing and they think they’re being socially conscious by having less as if they were given an option.

I can’t imagine why this has to be answered again, but here goes. Because there are Islamic scholars who professionally use the library. Muslims pray five times a day on a very strict schedule. They do not just pray sitting down quietly. They have physical gestures to do and words that need to be spoken out loud. The scholars asked if there would be a room that they could go to where they could privately do their thing without interrupting any of the other library patrons. The Vatican said yes, and provided them with a small space.
