Software engineering is tiresome and complex. the motivation can just be 120k a year salary but the power you know you would have as an hedge fund manager if you understand deep computing. This is what is keeping going but I am tired

@tunguz The most well made plans are usually the first casualties of war anyway. Best to just play it by their actions, see their objectives then hit them first. Constantly. Make their battle plans text for their tombstones.

@lunolaser @christinaqi the quant guy with the right strategies won't work for you he would rather safe up to start his own retail no one gives alpha a way because of salary even if you hire one you get over ritualistic guys who think data is the solution to the market. every data is a coin toss. bye

The HFT industry is extremely top-heavy (~10 firms make up >90% of the industry's revenue), but every major university has a "Master in Quant Finance"-related program. This creates a very competitive pipeline, leading to many disappointed students and administrators. 🧵

When I was a first-time founder (hedge fund days) I tried the “we’re a special startup on a budget plz give us free shit” strategy once and ended up burning bridges with some very important service providers. Huge huge lesson learned.

@christinaqi Does it ever work? Isn't it easier to raise funds pretending to be Nigerian Royalty?

@VincentonGod Even with stack over flow, you had to code lots of stuff from scratch. You can only look up specific parts, and still need to tailor the stackoverflow answer to your case Now, you can just copy what you need fixing, and it will fix it.

I honestly feel coding is a bit dead with the help of AI. Yes - we still need engineers to code, but you can just prompt for help all the time now. Need something done i.e make a model class, with enums and db structure, just prompt it, then tweak it. Theres no more coding from "scratch".

@kejca Intelligence is only a multiplier of the metrics for success. Human drive + Agency (strategy × persuasion × systems) × intelligence × domain knowledge × opportunity = success.

I'm running a 7-day experiment! 🦀 Every day, I'll share an infographic created from my Rust Bootcamp video transcript using Nanobanana. Day 1: Hello World (Manual vs. Cargo). I’m really impressed by the quality. I might even create a mini e-book with them. Link below.

That headline hits hard, but the timing feels way too aggressive. Quantum computers that can break major blockchains would need stable, fault-tolerant qubits at a scale nobody’s close to yet. The real point isn’t “crypto breaks in 2028.” It’s that both Bitcoin and Ethereum will need to upgrade their signature schemes long before quantum computing becomes a real threat and those upgrades are already being researched. If quantum progress accelerates, crypto won’t sit still. Protocols adapt faster than people think.
