The semiconductor sector is taking over the market: Semiconductor stocks now represent a record 16.1% of the S&P 500's market cap. The percentage has TRIPLED since the 2022 bear market. This is also now 11 percentage points above the 2000 Dot-Com Bubble peak. By comparison, defensive sectors, including energy, healthcare, staples, and utilities, make up 19.2% of the S&P 500 index. This is 4 percentage points below the previous low of 23.0%, set in 1999. At this pace, the weight of the semiconductor sector will surpass that of defensive sectors by as early as next year. Semiconductor stocks are reshaping the investing landscape.

🚨 45 MILLION PEOPLE ARE ABOUT TO GO HUNGRY BECAUSE OF THE US-IRAN WAR. And even if fertilizer starts shipping tomorrow, it will not solve the problem. Here is why. 👇 One third of all internationally traded fertilizer passes through the Strait of Hormuz. The Strait has been nearly completely closed since the US and Israel attacked Iran on February 28. Ship transits have collapsed from 135 per day in peacetime to single digits today. Fertilizer is not like oil. You cannot just turn it back on. Even if the Strait opens tomorrow, restarting production and transport for fertilizers could take weeks, weeks that Northern Hemisphere farmers do not have. Planting season is happening right now. For every day the Strait has been shut down, experts estimate it takes a week to untangle the problem afterward. Today is day 57 of the crisis. That is over a year of damage on the back end even if it ended today. The numbers already on the ground are severe. Fertilizer prices in the US rose more than 40% in just one month after the war started. Natural gas, which determines 70 to 90% of the cost of producing nitrogen fertilizer, has seen a 20% drop in production and price increases up to 70%. Russia has suspended exports of ammonium nitrate to preserve its own supplies. China, the world's largest phosphate producer, has blocked phosphate exports, removing 25% of global supply. 70% of farmers across the US said in an American Farm Bureau survey they will not be able to afford all the fertilizer they need for this year's crops. The US fertilizer supply in mid-March was already at 75% of normal levels right at the start of planting season. And the US is actually one of the luckier countries. Sudan imports 54% of its fertilizer from the Gulf. Sri Lanka imports 36%. Tanzania 31%. Somalia 30%. These countries do not have the money to pay premium prices for diverted supplies. The UN World Food Programme estimates 45 million additional people will be pushed into acute hunger as a direct result of this war. Crop yields in India and Brazil in 2026 are already expected to be lower than normal. East African farmers who were already struggling to afford fertilizer before the crisis will now have to produce with even less. Food inflation in Britain is now forecast to hit 10% by end of 2026, up from a pre-war forecast of 3.2%. And that is Britain, a wealthy country with purchasing power and reserves. The poorest countries have none of that buffer. The food crisis from this war will last well into 2027 regardless of when the shooting stops. The fertilizer that was not applied this planting season cannot be applied retroactively. The crops that were not planted are not coming back. The damage to this year's harvest is already locked in.

The Arbitrum Security Council has taken emergency action to freeze the 30,766 ETH being held in the address on Arbitrum One that is connected to the KelpDAO exploit. The Security Council acted with input from law enforcement as to the exploiter’s identity, and, at all times, weighed its commitment to the security and integrity of the Arbitrum community without impacting any Arbitrum users or applications. After significant technical diligence and deliberation, the Security Council identified and executed a technical approach to move funds to safety without affecting any other chain state or Arbitrum users. As of April 20 11:26pm ET the funds have been successfully transferred to an intermediary frozen wallet. They are no longer accessible to the address that originally held the funds, and can only be moved by further action by Arbitrum governance, which will be coordinated with relevant parties.

August 2024. Leland had $1,300 sitting around. He threw it into a coin called $TROLL. Market cap was $9k. Tiny. Unknown. Nothing special about it. He waited a few hours. Nothing happened. No pump. No volume. Dead silence. So he sold. Moved on. Forgot about it. For the next 8 months that coin just sat there. No movement. No hype. No nothing. Peak market cap hit $24K at some point. That’s it. Everyone who knew about it had already written it off. Just another dead pump.fun token. There are thousands of those. Then one day in April 2025. Out of nowhere. $TROLL started moving. Then it kept moving. Then it wouldn’t stop. 175,000% gain. $207 million market cap. That $1,300 Leland sold for almost nothing? It would have been worth $45 million. He told a reporter “i’ll be real, it doesn’t hurt” Crypto Twitter called it the biggest fumble in history. But nobody ever finishes the story. The people who held all the way to $207M. They didn’t sell either. $TROLL is sitting at $12M right now. Down 94% from the peak. Every million they were sitting on. Gone. So here’s what actually happened. Leland lost $45M he never really had.
