Carlos Mendoza did not sign Jorge Polanco or trade for Luis Robert Jr, David Stearns did. Carlos Mendoza did not make the decision to go into the season relying on players like David Peterson, Kodai Senga, and Sean Manaea, David Stearns did. Someone had to be responsible and unfortunately it fell on Mendoza, but it is solely on David.

@DanBartels2 the mets fired Eric Chavez after last season, meanwhile right now they rank #29 in MLB in average, runs scored, and hits, rank #27 in HR and BB, and are DEAD LAST in in OBP, SLG and OPS. But Alonso and Nimmo were the problem in 25 with their combined 324 hits, 63 hr, 218 rbi!

Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza said they didn’t consider putting Nico Hoerner (the guy who walked it off) on base intentionally to face Michael Busch (0-4 this game, hitting .164 on the season) because Hoerner could have then taken second base….

The Mets pitching has been good. Need the offense to catch up. Tough tightrope to walk right now. The good news is they have plenty of time to figure it out. All it takes is one. The returns of Soto & Polanco will go a long way.

@SteveGelbs Very easy..fire Mendy and Stearns, Plain and simple..any basic fan this offseason could see all the holes & not even a month into the season, theyre being exposed. Lack of starting pitching, no power,several players playing out of position..this experiment is a total failure!

It looks really bad right now. But… 2015: the Mets lost 7 straight and scored 9 total runs. 2018: 11-1 start and Mickey Callaway was the second coming of Gil Hodges. 2024: 11 games under on May 29. 2025: the best team in MLB in mid June. Way too early to declare anything.
