Sometime after 13:00 UTC yesterday, an attacker gained enough control over cow.fi to create a new SSL certificate and serve malicious content to CoW Swap's primary domain.
They were able to do this by convincing our DNS registrar that they were a CoW Swap team member, using false documents.
It is important to note that this was not an attack on CoW infrastructure, and that it was not a result of any private information leak. It was a social engineering attack on our domain registrar.

UPDATE: The swap dot cow dot fi domain is currently locked and not accessible. We are working with security experts to assert control over the domain while it is locked, but we *do not* expect it to be live again tonight.
For those who rely on CoW Swap daily, we have spun up a new instance of the CoW Swap UI at swap.cow.finance, which is safe to use.
Please continue to exercise extreme caution when interacting with any websites (including the new URL above) or social media accounts purporting to be CoW Swap. Only rely on official communications from this channel or on Discord surrounding the status of CoW Swap.

Our phishing detection service has blocked the CoWSwap dapp in the meantime, so if you have MetaMask installed you will notice a roadblock if you attempt to visit their site.

To clarify: the correct approval address for Cowswap is: 0xc92e8bdf79f0507f65a392b0ab4667716bfe0110 on all networks. On Mainnet the contract is almost 5 years old. Those approvals are totally fine. You are only potenitally effected if you set a new approval in the last hours.
