Sounds like you didn't understand Suguha's arc and got hung up on "Eww, an uncomfortable topic!", then.
If you'd understood it, you'd know she felt that way because she was confused at a vulnerable and emotionally charged time in her life due to him, having unknown-to-her discovered they were actually cousins and his current parents were his aunt and uncle, pulling away from her for so long before being trapped, and then suddenly being present again when he came back, and she didn't know Kirito was him, he just reminded her enough of him that he became the focus for feelings she was conflicted about because she didn't understand them but knew they were wrong and she needed to let go of them. Which is why she was *devastated* when she figured it out by accident, crashed out the way she did, and immediately did the mature thing and moved on with him the right way as siblings once he apologized and they reconciled through the duel they both threw out of care for the other. It's by no means "bs", it's a great character arc handled very maturely.
Also, Fairy Dance is the second part of season 1, it's not the second season itself. That's Phantom Bullet + Calibur + Mother's Rosario.

Pigs eat slop after all, and "no restrictions or progression, just a flat plane of empty, copy-pasted nontent so you have fReEdUm" is as slop as it gets, short of a broken mess that barely runs. Games need structure, and there's plenty of freedom players can have within mechanical constraints to the point where they'd never even notice them without having to give up item/level gates and actual rewards that come from them.

@VirtualAxiom A from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is about as close as you can get to the idea of true “non-binary”, but I can’t explain that without going into massive spoilers.

English

There aren't any. Calling a character a term that doesn't attach to a coherently definable concept is meaningless, and "non-binary" cannot be coherently defined; it's always subjective word salad with a lot of emotional insistence and veiled social threats to accept it behind it.

Your comment is clearly rage bait, yes, but mine is completely sincere, and fuck you for suggesting otherwise just because it runs counter to your narrow-minded NPC narrative.
BotW is objectively the worst game of the series by far, in fact it doesn't even deserve to be counted, nor does its equally terrible $70 DLCquel that took 6 years to release with basically nothing to show for it, and it's easily observable to anyone who actually understands and gives a shit about Zelda as a series and what made it so great in the first place.
If it were a good game, let alone a good Zelda game, and certainly if it were among the best in the series as you claim so obnoxiously, I would have every reason to believe that and agree. I WANTED to adore it. I was so eager for it that every delay ruined my day. But after playing it to near-100%, with only Ganon, the DLC, and ~400 Koroks left and giving it an honest chance in all of that time to click and for me to "get it" if it was really a me issue...all I got was proof that it sucks balls and has no right to be glazed the way it is by fake "fans" like you who just want to tongue Aonuma's nutsack.
If ANYONE was going to adore it had it actually been a good game, if ANYONE would have had a potential bias in its favor, it would have been me, the biggest Zelda nerd in my social circle. And I came away not only let down, but disgusted. The game sucks, you're wrong, get bent.

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks This is clearly rage bait.
BOtW is the best game of the entire series by far, and it's easily in my top 10 games of all time.
English

@_Floura_ @blacknredtext @Epicartworks It has good bones from an engineering standpoint, I can give people that; but as an experience it's miserable, no value whatsoever. Especially if you're a Zelda fan.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks Used to be a massive fan of the game before I reflected on my experience and analysed it more objectively.
It's not completely awful, but it did not deserve the glaze and praise it got.
English

7/10 is *extremely* generous, being honest. It's competently built from a programming perspective, but what's competently built code-wise is devoid of any meaning or effort, or any of the sauce that makes Zelda *Zelda*. There's hardly any substance at all, in a series that never missed on story or gameplay before.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks i ran it with CEMU and turned off broken items, ran it a 4K 60 FPS... felt like a 7/10 game at best.
dungeons are just tiny puzzles, and boss stages/fights are just bigger puzzles... and a lot of climbing, running, and gliding around. that's all i got out of it.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks I liked the game quite a bit but I feel like I was the only person who noticed that it was Fallout 3 and every time I tried to tell people they called me crazy
English

@_groktuah @blacknredtext @Epicartworks Oh, it's everything. The dungeons, the world's enemy/puzzle/quest/reward variety, the story, it's all just...awful. Lazy. Like they spent most of their time on the physics simulator and barely any on the actual game itself around that neat technology.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks I never followed the hype but did enjoy the game. But I see exactly what you mean about the dungeons.
English

@paintssometime @blacknredtext @Epicartworks I just expect more than a mildly pretty but empty world to wander around in from my $60-70 video game, especially in a series that built its pedigree on compelling stories, thoughtful puzzles, simple but engaging combat, and a consistent standard of quality, you know? Reasonable.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks I like exploring 🤷♂️ yeah, i wish there was something to FIND, like .. heart pieces or something, not just endless shrines and yahaha's. But I had fun just exploring, still.
English

@paintssometime @blacknredtext @Epicartworks If you can get something out of it while acknowledging the reality of it that's all well and good, but I do have to wonder; What's fun about having nothing but mindless busywork with no rewards in an empty world with only a handful of enemies, though?
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks Agreed. It's a fun game, I think, but it's not a good ZELDA game.
English

Without question. I've been a hardcore fan since 2003 when I was able to properly dive in beyond my dad's copy of the original game on his NES, 100% completed every game since multiple times, can play Ocarina with my peripheral vision and muscle memory and no-damage the Cave of Ordeals and Savage Labyrinth in TP and WW, and BotW is the one where despite my sincere attempt to let it win me over after my initial disappointment, I gave up with only Ganon, the DLC, and ~400 Korok turds left. It drained me, and all I was left with was objective proof that it really had nothing to offer but busywork, and the resentment that came from that reality.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks Absolutely true. BotW ruined the Zelda series, and I've been a fan for 20+ years. It's one of the worst Zelda games ever made, and I guarantee that if the Zelda title wasn't slapped on it, it wouldn't have sold well.
English

The only fake fan is you cunt, I'M the true fan here, which is why I'm upset in the first place. You don't get to tell me my passion for the overwhelming majority of the series isn't real when I've been here longer than most BotW-loving posers have even been alive.
I've played and completed the original game numerous times, including swordless in both quests, as recently as 2024. It's very good, but it's also a product of the technical limitations of its time, and taking those away only proved that its precise design philosophy doesn't work beyond that limited scope, because it dilutes it too much without a level of content BotW objectively doesn't have, and not even Elden Ring truly reaches. It's not feasible.
ALttP is objectively an improvement in every way on the groundwork the original laid, and there's a reason the original was the only one to follow that philosophy while everything else iterated on ALttP; It's inherently not capable of scaling without massive resources and development time beyond even the attempts we've seen.
Real fans care about quality and fidelity to proven, consistent aspects of something's identity. Fake fans, like you, just consoom brand and pompously throw around platitudes when you don't have any actual arguments, like you're doing right now. Just because the original game was the original doesn't mean it's the standard when the standard was already met and exceeded by the third game, which defined what the series was going forward for 2 decades, and is THE reason it's as great as it is. And even setting that aside, BotW emulates the original poorly, which is a fact.
Fuck you, poser. Be silent.
English

@VirtualAxiom @blacknredtext @Epicartworks LttP is both the best and worst thing to happen to Zelda. Fake fans like you cling to it's game structure like it's the only thing that should exist. Go play the original Zelda, it's obvious to those of us who truly love Zelda that it is what BotW was emulating.
