On the one hand billions spent on war, on the other, people queuing up for food. The world has such misplaced priorities! 😢

In Panchkula, near the Khair forest area, more than 10,000 trees were cut overnight using silent cutters. Khair wood is expensive, and the logs were transported on camels. To avoid suspicion, the remaining stumps were burned. This came to the notice of a forest guard named Vijay Kumar. He said his father was a gardener, and seeing trees being cut felt like losing a part of his own family. He raised a complaint with the forest minister. But instead of action, he was suspended. He is now sitting on a protest alone. All this is happening in Haryana, where forest cover is already very low, around 3.25 percent. So far, the issue has received very little media attention.

Today is one of those days that makes #writing well worth the effort. My #script went from the page to the sets and was shot by my friend, champion and extremely talented filmmaker @jaidsen. Thanks, Jaideep for the collaboration.🙏🏽 Psst...Don't miss the credit on the clapper! 😀

@BengalAntiquity No reason for Bengalis or any Indians to feel positive towards Anglos. It was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj who built Calcutta, and the Marathas who put forward a written legal code and standardised judicial proceedings.

?? "Bengal" isn't. Everything you cited is from Kolkata. And in no way would that be different than the other metros such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore etc. " Bengal is one of the last Anglophile states". Jachchetai montobbyo kore dilei holo!

Bengal is one of the last Anglophile states left in India. From street names like ‘Shakespeare Sarani, Camac street etc, to the very popular Anglo club culture, Tollygunge club, Saturday Club etc and obviously stuff like this.

@babumoshoy Gujarat easily takes the crown for the most underwhelming food in the country. From the bland offerings in Ahmedabad to the borderline inedible Kathiyawadi specialty joints, the entire state is a literal dead zone for anyone who appreciates actual taste

Holi even became a tool for Political Resistance! ✊ In 1926, while in Mandalay Jail, Subhas Chandra Bose led a hunger strike demanding the right for political prisoners to celebrate Holi. He even submitted a budget of ₹100 for the festivities.

The Shift: As the 19th century progressed, the Bengali middle class began to center their identity around Durga Puja. The British became more rigid They viewed Holi as "unruly" & Durga Puja as "stately." Slowly, the 5-day Holi break was trimmed, and the Puja vacation expanded.

The 5-Day Holiday: When Holi Ruled Bengal’s Colonial Calendar 🌸📜 Did you know that In 1787, the British gave a massive 5-day break for #Holi in Bengal, while Durga Puja was barely a blip! 😮 Early colonial records show Holi was once the bigger official holiday. 🌸📜

Can you recognise him? He is Amir Shaikh from Malda, West Bengal. He went to Rajasthan to earn a livelihood. Rajasthan Police detained, tortured, and pushed him back to Bangladesh — his “crime”? He speaks Bengali. He is a Bengali by birth. A Bengali Muslim from West Bengal. Yes, for being Bengali, he suffered humiliation and injustice. We from @Bangla_EkataM took to the streets in protest, and our representative stood by his family then. Today, at the Book Fair, Amir shared his story himself — leaving everyone shaken. Though he was later brought back to India, the insult and trauma he endured must not be forgotten. We will stand against every Bangla-birodhi force.

This Shrine Pose picture of Shree Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was taken in front of the Krishna temple at Dakshineswar in 1884, when Sri Ramakrishna was 48 years old. Bavanath Chatterjee, the Master’s devotee from Baranagore, took this photograph of HIM in a high yogic state. 🌺
