Added MongrelDB into a couple more appllications today. It's a fast embedded+server columnar database with SQL, vector search, full-text search, and AI-native retrieval. Now as a Hermes plugin and Prompt Management app backend. Encrypted at rest!

What are you using to manage all of your random "saved prompts"? And don't say Obsidian, Kate or Notepad++

6/6 And on the speed point: when the comparison is fair — dense ANN enabled on all candidates — MongrelDB is actually the fastest of the locally benchmarked Hermes memory backends. The speed isn't just acceptable; it's part of why it's the right choice.

5/6 Persistence is just expected at this point, but it's worth noting because some of the lightweight alternatives store state in memory or need separate serialization. MongrelDB's files survive restarts, and in native FFI mode there's no separate daemon to fall over.

So what's the verdict --- Codex Pro at $220, or Claude Max with Fable at $200? What's the better deal?

@maxedapps It's on sale for $99 for 3 months, I just subscribed yesterday evening to test it out and I'm at 18% used with it doing quite a bit of work last night. Overall I'm impressed with it as an alternative to GLM 5.2 and Minimax M3, but it's not Opus 4.8, GPT-5.6-sol, or Kimi K3.

Do I know anyone with a supergrok $300 plan? How much usage do you get out of it compared toto openai $200? Obviously a bit hard to tell with all those constant limit resets but would love to get some insights
