Today we went to Italica, just outside Seville. Grandiose Roman town with amphithéâtre and stunning mosaics from the 1st century. italicasevilla.org/en/
It’s no secret. What a struggle to readjust to being back home after almost 6 weeks on the road in our van. Daily conversations about how we could maybe just take off and keep travelling……
I didn’t really get done anything I wanted to do today… but instead I had coffee with a friend, packed for our trip (we leave Sunday for Paris), and ate this delicious dessert!
@VivandJayNext I have an adhd-based phobia of phones… so I have always avoided them in English… so in french it was utterly torturous. I forgot all my grammar and was too busy trying to get the role playing right I lost my shit. It was just with my french teacher too - I had to do it 3 times!
Just did a practice of the oral part of my french exam and it was tortuous. I loathe the telephone on a good day in English… but in french, role-playing a gardener, well heck, that was awful!
😱🤢😢🤞🏻🇫🇷
@Janet_Lyn@feastsandfables That is exactly what happens at the coast here in Charente Maritime. Our usual one hour drive from home takes easily two and a half in August. To be avoided
@VivandJayNext@feastsandfables Thank you very much!
I wondered if August was still a crowded beach month there.
I remember the cities emptying in August and the crowds along the sea coast when we lived in northern Italy (Milano) when I was a young girl.
@RJonTourUK@travel4thestars We share our home with a family of bats. Happily they are content to live in one of the barns apart from one guy who spends the day sleeping behind one of our bedroom shutters
@feastsandfables As I plan my trip to France, I'm definitely drawn to the idea of enjoying a few weeks along the sea coast...away from big cities.
Any recommendations for French sea villages and less crowded sea coast areas???
After all the Roman excitement in Mérida we have visited a cheese producer with its own cheese museum. Award winning Spanish cheese in 2021. Suffice to say we are planning to be in a cheese coma by this afternoon.
