Reid Poland III, the Montgomery County General Sessions Judge who set the massive bond on streamer Dalton Eatherly (Chud the Builder) after the courthouse incident, faced public discipline while practicing law. His record from the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility shows a public censure on June 23, 2023. The Board found: • He failed to complete work promised to a client in a custody case after mediation. • He stopped communicating with his client. • He made misrepresentations to the client about what he had done. • He ignored opposing counsel and failed to draft required orders, parenting plan, and child support documents, even after a Motion to Enforce the Mediation Agreement. Result: Public censure and ordered to pay costs. This came after he was elected judge in 2022. Chud’s bail has been compared to Karmelo Anthony, a 17 year old Texan who was charged with 1st degree murder and was let out on 250,000 bail and allowed to use online fundraising to make bail. Chud is being denied the ability to use his GiveSendGo funds, which currently stand at 269,000, towards bail. Critics are now questioning whether a judge with this background should be handling such a high-profile, politically charged case.
