What’s the best way to celebrate #InternationalMangroveDay? Plant more #mangroves! Our team in Kenya was on the ground, planting with communities and Kenya Forest Service and discussing mangroves with Fatuma Achani, Governor for Kwale County.

Today in Diani, Kenya, we officially adopted an additional 400 ha of degraded mangrove areas in Kwale County. Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, Chief Conservator of Forests in Kenya, and Isabella Masinde, Papariko project leader, signing the agreement. 👇🏻

The weather was not very favorable for planting this May and June in #Kenya, with heavy rainfalls and tropical storm Laly making field work dangerous or totally impossible, but the Papariko #mangrove project team sees an opportunity to continue planting in July.

🌳🌳🌳 On 19th June, the Kwale County Tree Planting Event took place at the Bodo Mangrove Forest Area, with active participation from our Papariko project team. Despite the rainy and cold weather, the event was quite a success and united the communities of several villages. 🤝
