@CarlowWeather Pity you cant go over radars for the time it happened and see if there was any rotation in the clouds.

Sadly I have received another report of more damage in Cork from the thunderstorms that hit Sunday night along with a downburst wind. This home and neighboring property in Unionhall Cork were badly damaged. A weather station in Ringaskiddy did record a sudden and dramatic wind gust.

@CarlowWeather It was orange level straight away in roscommon the winds were dire when we had to pick the kids up from playschool and national school..

I’ve been saying for years that we need to move to an impact based warning system like the UK Met Office use. The winds we saw yesterday have a much bigger impact this time of year and also when peak of storm is during work day. The Met Éireann system is based on specific thresholds being met and it’s not fit for purpose in my opinion.

@CarlowWeather @sunbabe08 @GalwayBeoOnline They got it from an article I seen myself that the jetstream could reach that speed and they are after taking it as the storm could reach that wind speed..

@sunbabe08 @GalwayBeoOnline There is a risk of a storm but very uncertain and latest models bring more rain than wind but that 300kmh headline is just beyond a joke.

This is absolutely nonsense from @GalwayBeoOnline and nothing but scaremongering.

If you have ever seen a sight in the sky like this, you are one of the few who have. Most, the vast majority of people never get to see this. Many do not even know this exists.

@SusanSmythSL Yeah they have a really sensitive nose anything with ammonia in it and bathroom cleaning stuff like the cubes you put in the cistern of a toilet or the stuff you hang on the toilet bowl they absolutely hate..

Showers more widespread Tuesday and areas in Purple mostly to see that amount. So over 20mm possible in parts of Limerick but over 10mm for more areas.
