@xbunyq its not fun. but at this point, what's the answer? what's the win condition? there's always hope but the difficulty is figuring out how to contextualize it, how to make it tangible. honestly, having someone to blarg to about it, who understands...that goes a *long* way.

@xbunyq nothing's wrong with having limits. honestly, its having limits that keeps you alive. they may be weird limits, but they're yours. you define yourself with them. and the first step to surviving the Void, is to Know Yourself. You're not awful. you're aware.

How are my standards so low yet so high at the same time? D: like... I don't expect loyalty or dates anymore but I also specifically can't be w someone who is skinny, uses ":3" or boosts egirls in his spare time bc I find it cringe. I'm awful.

@skullyz_z @JJunkWarrior oh my god Bed of Chaos was SUCH a stupid fight...it wasnt even *challenging* it was "you dont know what's going to fall so trial and error it till you succeed" in the *worst* way possible.

@VoidWalkerZero @JJunkWarrior I would like for scientists to examine the brain of somebody who unironically think the bed of chaos is peak design. But I do think for the most part, thoes games do difficulty well.

lotta people have this idea that if someone complains about a games difficulty theyre just bad at it when there's instances where the game's approach to difficulty could just be very shitty

@goreban666 @JJunkWarrior its funny too considering it was *Demons' Souls* that kicked off the genre. But it was Dark Souls that made it popular, for some reason. and Demons' was *rough*. not just difficulty-wise but gameplay-wise too. Dark 1 was the more polished game yet still had its problems.

@xbunyq do they seem to have any relation to one another? a sound, a scent, a sight? even if you cant stop them, you might be able to predict when one's about to hit and take measures to more easily ride them out.

@chiefwindex DMC2 Dante can be your favorite if you want, i mean his outfit is pretty badass and Majin DT was the inspiration for Sin DT after all, but his character in that game was so far removed from what both creators and fans wanted that they narratively walked it back in later games.

@chiefwindex it didnt "ruin his character" it contextualized *why* he was the way he was in DMC1. DMC2 was the *outlier* of the series, and every other game shows that. even the DEVS show that, in the DMC collection where they gloss over 2 during the summary of the series.

@heckblazers exactly. young, dumb, looking for fun. and then we see him grow up. DMC1 he's refined the cockiness to confidence, DMC2 he's going through some shit, DMC4 he's knowing he's playing the role of "Villain" to these people so he hams it up, and DMC5 he's overcompensating a little
