@gabr1elawesome I actually really like the "big pain elemental" design too! And it makes sense given what we know about the Cosmic Pain Elemental. Plus I think it adds a bit of more expressiveness other demons don't have when Pain Elementals are basically just floating faces with arms

xal'goroth is honestly one of coolest additions to dooms lore (and my new favorite bossfight franchise-wide) we've had in a long while. i also seem to be the only person that doesnt really mind him just being a really really big pain elemental LOL (i like pain elementals ok)

DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations Hospital / Exterior Street Early on in the production for DLC, I was given the opportunity to explore what the ‘dream/ flashback/ nightmare’ sequences could look like and feel like. We talked about and explored a lot of dream-like VFX and other elements that would help push this into the surreal. Something that would be tied to a traumatic memory that would also visually stand out from the regular Dark Ages experience. I started with some extreme takes on this and iterated until we found a more grounded approach. Once we got it to a good place our art team took a pass at the street in engine and I did a final pass over that for weather and VFX. Fun fact: the hospital is based on a building in downtown Dallas. The key reference photo I took with my phone after a late night following the Borderlands 4 launch party I was fortunate enough to attend. I haven't really seen anyone really grasp the weight of ahzraks "we'll need something more permanent" line. Death is considered the absolute, even to the rest of the beings in the doomverse. Sure, souls go to hell, but they can still be destroyed The slayer is the one exception.

So, if the flashback segments in DOOM Revelations take place in the year 2046, according to Slayer Confessional III, then why the hell does Flynn Taggart have a shotgun from fucking 1993?! Not even a reference thing, the codex states it's an actual shotgun from 1993 in universe.
