The submissive inclination can express itself in countless forms. Very often, it moves between the desire to serve and the desire to be humiliated. When the longing for humiliation is more pronounced, a submissive man feels drawn to degrading acts. He wants to be forced downward, to feel his inferiority and powerlessness—sometimes accompanied by demeaning words. The deeper he is pushed down, the more completely the craving for humiliation is fulfilled. When the desire to serve is more strongly rooted in a submissive man, the adoration of the Mistress stands in the foreground. In its highest form, he completely surrenders himself for the sake of the revered person. Happiness lies in feeling the Mistress’s satisfaction, in perceiving her approval. The adoration he feels for her is an endless rapture; her smile becomes a fountain of joy. Often, these different expressions exist in parallel within one submissive man. As a result, the longing sometimes fluctuates between veneration of the Mistress and the need to be kept at the very bottom. Depending on which tendency is stronger, it shapes the submissive nature.
