AUR Party: 2026 To Be Declared “The Year of America in Romania” The Alliance for the Union of Romanians officially requested that the 🇷🇴authorities—the #Presidency, the #Parliament, and the #Government—declare 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣ as “The Year of America in Romania,” in the context of the 250th anniversary of the 🇺🇸Declaration of Independence. This year represents a historic moment of global significance. The United States of America will mark 250 years since its founding as a nation built on fundamental values such as #freedom, #sovereignty, #faith, #democracy, and #freedom of expression—values that have decisively influenced the evolution of the modern world and remain essential for the future of #Europe and #Romania. 2026 is marked not only by this historic anniversary, but also by the significant role played by the United States of America in the global architecture of security and freedom. Under the leadership of @POTUS, American influence has been felt both on the international stage and in relations with 🇪🇺. Political, strategic, and economic decisions of the 🇺🇸Administration have had a direct impact on Europe’s geopolitical direction, the security of the continent, and the defense of democratic values in an increasingly unstable international context. According to 🇺🇸Security Strategy, the US explicitly assumes the role of a principal defender of political freedoms, democracy, and freedom of expression in Europe, at a time when these fundamental rights face growing challenges. In this context, Romania’s relationship with the United States is not only strategic, but also essential for maintaining political pluralism, freedom of opinion, and national sovereignty. 🇷🇴 and 🇺🇸 are linked by a solid strategic partnership with vital political, military, economic, and cultural dimensions. The US is Romania’s main security guarantor within @NATO and a key ally in the #BlackSea region. America must continue to play a central role as Romania’s strategic partner on security issues, and major decisions taken by Bucharest in this context—including developments related to Ukraine—should be coordinated with Washington. Declaring 2026 as “The Year of America in Romania” would allow for: •strengthening the Romanian-American strategic relationship; •organizing cultural, educational, and academic events dedicated to American history and values; •promoting economic cooperation and American investment in Romania; •reaffirming Romania’s commitment to the free world and democratic principles; •strengthening ties between Romanian and American societies. AUR believes that 🇷🇴 must be an active part of this historic moment and send a clear message of respect and friendship to the American nation and the American people. At the same time, regardless of the decision of the Romanian state authorities, the Alliance for the Union of Romanians publicly announces that it will declare 2026 as “The Year of the United States in Romania” and will act accordingly. Throughout 2026, the AUR party will organize, support, and promote: •conferences and public debates; •cultural and commemorative events; •educational initiatives dedicated to young people; •public diplomacy and Romanian-American dialogue initiatives.
