As Ramadan begins this evening, I want to extend a warm Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim neighbors and families across Long Island and throughout New York. This month of reflection and fasting, both internal and external, is a reminder of the power of faith and community.

We grieve the loss of Rev. Jesse Jackson a giant of the civil rights movement who inspired generations to believe in their worth and power. His lifelong fight for equality leaves an enduring mark.

On #PresidentsDay, we remember our forefathers and the vision they set for this nation. They understood a simple truth, unchecked power threatens democracy. Honoring their legacy means protecting the voice of the people.

Today marked #NYBudget Hearing 8 of 14. After more than 10 hours of careful review and thoughtful discussion at our local government general budget hearing the room is quiet but the responsibility continues. On to number 9.
