Hard to take her seriously at this point after all the replies she goes through to try and validate what she's said over the past couple days. It really isn't that hard to just admit that you were acting entitled and pissy about it rather than deleting tweets and making excuses.

The current furor over Bao & Shondo is one I've seen many, many charged opinions on. Some I agree with, others I find laughably terrible. Rather than toss my own opinion into the ring on the specifics of the incident, I want to give an observation about such vtubers in general. I firmly believe that vtubing as a medium is only as popular as it is because of extreme societal dysfunction. Normal people (as a rule) do not watch vtubers. Married men with children and careers do not watch vtubers. Instead, vtubing is enjoyed by the disaffected, the disenfranchised, the eccentric, the outsiders, the failures, the drop-outs and the socially isolated. In particular, the kind of vtubers that command the largest audiences on Twitch cater to the sexual desires of a generation of men who have either willingly or unwillingly been excluded from mainstream relationships. To be blunt; men who watch these kind of streamers do so because they don't have girlfriends and perceive no prospects of getting any. This is not all watchers, but it is a statistically significant number - I'd dare say a majority. Entertainment is a medium dominated by the principle of giving your audience what they want. It is also a very influential medium. We are shaped by the entertainment we consume on both a conscious and subconscious level. Every entertainer is aware of this influence to some degree. This presents a serious moral quandary for entertainers who cater to the aforementioned demographics of lonely and sexually frustrated men. The entertainer's wealth and popularity are directly tied to how well they exploit the desires of this disenfranchised group. They have an incentive to not just pander to their audience, but proactively make said audience worse by encouraging them to indulge more and more in what the entertainer has to offer. I think it is therefore quite reasonable to judge vtubers based on how they choose to use their (frankly incredible) influence on their fans. To be blunt; do their actions, content and behaviors serve as motivation for the average watcher to get better, or to get worse? For my part, I only want to support vtubers who I have reason to believe have confronted the moral quandary posed above and decided to shape their content in ways that encourage the former. This is not easy. It takes a very strong will to say, in effect, 'I am going to encourage my viewers to go live happy, healthy, socially productive lives where I am no longer needed to fill the void that was left by the absence of these things.' Nonetheless, certain vtubers have managed it, and their success testifies to the possibility of imitation. Now, I'm very conscious of the fact that in a perfect world, an animated cartoon on the internet should be under no sort of obligation to inspire people to be better than what they are. But given the absolute systematic collapse of all other sources of such inspiration, I now believe everyone has a certain duty to do their part, even if that starts with nothing more than saying 'you're gonna make it, chat.
