@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 I think they should do like one restaurant I know. They don't ask for tips. They have container that says tips right near the register. So people will just toss in tips at the same time they're already paying. Then the tips are divided between all the servers at the end of shift.
English

I paid a $169.29 breakfast bill and left the tip at $0. Not because I didn’t notice the line — but because tipping, for me, is still a personal choice, not a fixed charge.
The meal itself was fully paid for. The prices were set, the tax was added, and the total was clear. Covering that bill already supports the restaurant, its staff, and its operations. That part of the transaction was complete.
What made this moment uncomfortable wasn’t the math — it was the pressure that followed. Tipping used to be a way to say “thank you” when service stood out. Somewhere along the way, it shifted into an expectation that can feel detached from the actual experience.
Everyone comes in with different circumstances, different standards, and different limits. Respecting that choice — whatever the number — is part of keeping trust between customers and businesses. When that respect slips, so does the desire to come back.

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 Oh wow. I didn‘t know that it’s also changing in the US.
If i‘d visit the US i‘d tip cuz i always do.
I also want servers to appreciate it. But it‘s so normal that they‘d be surprised if i wouldn’t tip.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 I'd say most people don't tip anymore. That's why they guilt trip you. I always prefer to tip but I don't even know which restaurants rely on the and which don't so I often just forget and don't even mean to. I'm sure many do the same.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 Back in the day, here, everyone tipped. It was ingrained into the culture. So, it made sense. But it's not commonplace anymore so people don't tip often enough. That's why they remind people to tip. The better solution would be to just raise their pay. But stuck in their ways. 🤷🏻♂️
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 That‘s really a shame. There is no point in having a minimum wage if you don’t even have to pay it unless nobody tips.
In Europe you‘ll see that very often. If the bill is 197€. They‘ll round up to 200€.
No server is ever gonna complain cuz they don’t rely on tips.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 The loophole that lets restaurants pay less than minimum wage is severely outdated. That's the real issue.
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 I‘m not against the servers. They‘re doing a great job.
A server should get at least the minimum wage + tips. Not work basically for free and let the customers pay the salary cuz they‘re forced to so they owner can buy his next Ferrari.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 And that was the point I was trying to drive towards. Don't hate the server. Hate the restaurant.
My mom was a waitress for many years. When tips started becoming unsustainable, the restaurant started paying proper living wages. But many other restaurants refuse because of greed
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 feel bad for the waiters & waitresses. Kinda sad that their employer doesn’t pay enough and expect the customer to pay their salary so they can make more profit.
10% is totally fine and should be appreciated.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 Guilt tripping is a dirty tactic, and weird af, but it isn't forcing anyone to do anything. I hear people always talk about how soft everyone else is but those same people whine over things like this. They expect 15%, I usually give 10%. I'm not worried about it.
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 So it is kinda forced if they expect you to tip. Otherwise you’re a dumbass who doesn’t value the service.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 No, I'm referring to people acting like they're upset that they're expected to give a tip. Sure, you're expected because it has always been that way. And it's ironic because it used to be conservatives who were all "make sure you tip" and liberals who refused. They reversed roles
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 So what are we even discussing about? If someone doesn’t tip that‘s fine. Seemed like you were expecting it. My bad.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 A suggested tip isn't being forced, you goddamn snowflake.
Do what everyone else does, ignore it and give what you think it's actually worth. No one pays attention to the suggested tips except people who make a big deal about nothing.
English

@PhoenixAlarius @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 I‘m just saying you shouldn’t be forced to anything. Thats it. I do tip but because i want to and not because i have to.
I‘m sure you also tip the cashier, gas station worker etc. That’s your thing.
Just don’t expect it.
English

@VukiCW @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 People with actual consciences actually care about the people who serve them. I'm sorry you're a broken person.
English

@VukiCW @Mitch10891089 @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 No shit. But they don't. So, this is the world we live in.
English

@PhoenixAlarius @Mitch10891089 @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 Restaurant owners would then think about paying a fair wage 🤣
Retard
English

@Mitch10891089 @nakedjockman @MrPitbull07 If everyone chose not to work as servers, then there'd be no one to serve your dumb ass
