A fun urban legend sprang up through the years that the cars were left behind by US soldiers from the Second World War, unable to ship them back, they decided to leave them in a forest until they could come back and retrieve them. But though a fun legend to believe, locals say that it's simply an old car dump of vehicles left after WWII over the course of the next two decades. In 2010, the entire site had to be cleared due to environmental issues.
