@chisinRPL @marcusjihansson Haha yeah, that's actually why I don't stop him from playing games on my PS5 (hotwheels, spiderman, etc) I'd rather he spend time on those, than ending up with roblox

@Vyprex @marcusjihansson LOL I shall not be held responsible! But yes, it’s a very painful process to cut exposure to potentially harmful content. Redirect their interest while you still can!

My son just caught his first ever pokemon in a mainline game (he’s playing Leafgreen on Switch). He was so excited he almost knocked down the toilet door (I was inside) to tell me “I… I caught a Pidgey, papa!” For the last few months I’ve been trying to minimize his exposure to devices (it’s been a huge struggle) especially after he discovered Roblox. For a 7 years old, it’s still noticeable for them to differentiate what is real person interaction and scripted RPG dialogues in a digital space. But both providing him the same level excitement. The former is alot more dangerous for sure. Pokemon mainline game is probably the easiest and safest on-ramp for him into gaming and I’m glad I’m able to introduce him to Leafgreen.

@chisinRPL @marcusjihansson Thanks for the tip. I know I'm gonna be facing this very soon and wasn't sure how to deal with it. Now I can go buy that switch 2. Early investment 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Three things: 1. I was observing how my kid was interacting in Roblox and how he behaved. Both were negative experience from my POV and prompted me to take action. 2. I took away devices that allows him to access content so freely (he was able to use find his way to Roblox using iPad speech to text) and supervise his usage for education purposes only. 3. Screen time was of course directly impacted but we still allow them to watch supervised, curated content on YT kids (by actively blocking channels with bad behaviour and negative content). I am by no-means the best parent in the world but I'm fully aware of some of the danger on the internet that may harm him. Striking that balance been very challenging so slowly introducing him to content (like Pokemon mainline games) is the method I'm experimenting with.

Helaian ceritanya diselak satu persatu selang beberapa hari. Maka akhirnya, Malaysia melengkapkan satu kitaran. James mahu menjadi intern saya. Saya selalu sebut kepada anak-anak muda seperti James bahawa “a life without a higher purpose is a life not worth living”. James pun termakan kata-kata saya. Syabas Malaysia!

My statement on MACC’s public search notice as a wanted man. I’d like to iterate that I’m not Jho Low nor am I in Macau. This is plain and simple using the largesse of the state against a nobody like me. I’m not a politician, tycoon, or an influencer. Read here:

I stopped taking advice from childless people. Fitness. Productivity. Life advice. All of it. And here's why: It's not that they're wrong. It's that they're playing a completely different game. Taking life advice from someone without kids is like getting marriage tips from a guy who's "really good at first dates." Cool, bro. But you've never had to initiate the tough conversation and own your mistake just to keep the peace. We're not in the same sport. We've all seen some 25-year-old fitness influencer with non-negotiable 5am routine. Wake up. Meditate. Journal. Cold plunge. 45-minute lift. Sounds beautiful. You know what woke ME up at 5am last Tuesday? A 3-year-old standing 3 inches from my face whispering, "Daddy, I frowed up." There's no cold plunge for that. Just reality. These people have optimized their lives around ONE variable: themselves. I'm optimizing for: → A marriage that still thriving after 10 years → Kids who actually want to be around me → A career that provides for my family → A body that lets me keep up with all of it That's a completely different goal and it requires a different formula. Real discipline isn't waking up at 5am when your apartment is silent and your only responsibility is a houseplant. It's a 10pm workout after the kids went to bed because your morning blew up showing up for your family when they needed you. That's the game I'm playing. Childless advice isn't just impractical. It's unrelatable. Their goal: optimize for SELF. My goal: optimize for FAMILY. It's like a vegan telling me how to grill a steak. You might technically know the steps. But I don't trust you with the tongs. The best advice I've ever gotten came from parents in the trenches. They don't talk about "optimizing morning routines." They talk about: • 20 push-ups while your kid eats breakfast • Walking with your wife after dinner because it's the only time you'll get together • Meal prepping Sunday because Tuesday night is a warzone THAT'S advice that actually works. So no, I'm not taking health advice from someone whose biggest inconvenience is their supplement stack being shipped late. I want the guy who's been elbow-deep in a diaper blowout and STILL hitting their goals. That's the guy who I'm listening to. Find your people. Take their advice. Ignore the rest.

I will expand on my point: 1) You are using AI in your daily life. Search engines are AI-powered, your phone camera is AI-powered (sorry, you haven't become better at taking photos-smudges, blinks-all fixed by AI), Alexa? Siri? Google Assistant? Guess what, they are powered by AI. Netflix, YouTube, Twitch-all use AI to highlight content you're interested in. Google Maps and most navigation apps are now powered by AI to calculate your route. Spam filters, health and fitness trackers, even your online planner-all powered by AI. You use AI every day to make your life easier and find information faster, you're just too proud to admit it. 2) Witch hunts like with Larian Studios will cause only one thing: they will never tell you they're using AI. You think silly outrage will stop anyone from making their work easier? "Bitch please." I've been here when Photoshop was considered a "real art killer" frowned upon by traditional artists and discarded as "not real art." The majority of art is now made using computer tools. I remember when tens of thousands of Kodak shops closed down when traditional photography was replaced by digital cameras, millions of people lost their jobs, including me. I don't remember outrage back then. Let's face it, AI is here whether you like it or not; it will not go away because it makes life easier. We can be civil about it, accept that studios are using AI, and appreciate that they are willing to be honest with us, or we can fuel witch hunts that will cause studios to be completely silent about any use of AI in their work. This is no longer Kansas, Dorothy.
Swen Vincke @where?@LarAtLarian

Holy fuck guys we’re not "pushing hard" for or replacing concept artists with AI. We have a team of 72 artists of which 23 are concept artists and we are hiring more. The art they create is original and I’m very proud of what they do. I was asked explicitly about concept art and our use of Gen AI. I answered that we use it to explore things. I didn’t say we use it to develop concept art. The artists do that. And they are indeed world class artists. We use AI tools to explore references, just like we use google and art books. At the very early ideation stages we use it as a rough outline for composition which we replace with original concept art. There is no comparison. I talked about how we use ML here if you would like to know more: gamespot.com/articles/baldu… We've hired creatives for their talent, not for their ability to do what a machine suggests, but they can experiment with these tools to make their lives easier.

It's understating how bad the monetisation of esports is to point out most fans pay nothing to consume the product. It's far worse than that. They pay nothing, run every kind of adblock they can find and then complain about the sponsors funding events.

Coming home from China made me appreciate kopitiams like my family's Fatt Kee even more. Until my trip to Hangzhou, I didn't realise that China didn't have kopitiam-style coffee, which was invented by Chinese immigrants in the past. Each sip now feels like a taste of heritage.
