@Vyralle imo you should definitely give it a try and see how it feels once you reach master rank! all i'm trying to fight against is the notion that it's too easy to get to the top of this game now; if these new players start winning big tournaments then we have a case

i get that and i do believe if smart enough you can formulate a team and game plan to reach any peak but still it was likely too fast. this isnt to say the game is easy but mayb not enough rank spread. a newcomer should not reach the near end of a ladder within a single night thats just not appealing game design

@Vyralle I also do think we're being a bit dismissive of Flat's efforts here, this guy clearly took the time to sit down and actually learn and try and try again before he got here. A lot of new players are still stuck in great and ultra ball rn. I don't think we should undermine him

the problem being that ppl will get to master and just stop cuz above master is likely a goal for anyone not casual. sweats will not care about rank ofc but anyone above teen age with a brain will be able to get master ez and do you think he feels like he is master? likely not its a hollow achievement to actually “start the game” even compared to strat games yugioh pokemons tcg hekn chess. i say this also as someone who wanted to get into comp but not wanting to go through main games breeding iv etc. it being too ez feels hollow

@Vyralle I mean sure, i get where you're coming from; i don't see it as an issue because at the end of the day it's the playerbase and community that give meaning to these ranks. Like all top level vgc players know master ball in the ingame ladder doesn't mean shit

and i get that and i say that seems not okay. making literally everything except for 2 ranks basically irrelevant. across all norms yu start running into sweat around gold or plat. it may be a pokemon gas always been this way thing but we cant just say its ok everything under master is for babies

@Vyralle I think if you want to compare it to something like a League or Valorant, then for sure! It's way harder to get to the penultimate rank in those games. But I just see it as two different systems, Pokemon Champions' sweaty tryhard work begins in Masters instead of Pokéball

my point being matter of time is a single night he made “master” impossible in nearly any ither game while still holding prestige under gm or anything above that. he will likely be done playing the game in a week if hes already accomplished everything there is. im not here to complain like everyone about thing that are irrelevant like pve modes but im not here to also pretend the game is perfect in its systems

@Vyralle It's the next tier up but is reserved for the top xxx players which is extremely hard for a player to maintain, the gap between ultra ball to master ball and master ball to Champion is worlds apart. Master ball has always been a matter of time for most players, even in old games

isnt even close? its literally the next tier up. something equivalent to gm in any other competitive game. so several points being if you told literally any other comp game “master is meant to be easily attainable by anyone” im sure you could guess a reasonable response. if the top rank is achieved so easily whats left of substance same issue as ZA ranking system. do not take me as not enjoying the game i wholely do but i can also be objective and clearly see that might not be an ideal situation.

@Vyralle not at all, master isn't even close to the top rank in the game (champions rank) and it's meant to be easily attainable for everyone if you grind and work hard enough. It seems like this person clearly learnt from their losses at the start and got better! x.com/i/status/20420…

You have to forgive these ppl for being confused, with how half-assed the pvp aspect is it makes sense ppl would think they implemented pve to compensate.

I miss when kizzie was just a big bundle of joy and positivity, what happened man.
In my opinion lower power level is perfectly fine considering how one dimensional the game was getting, just hit WA snowball. This will make matches feel a lot less gambly and especially longer.
