@ProfJDChalmers Yep. Though grand slams should be free to view if they want to encourage more into the sport.

@drkeithsiau Genius. A stethoscope is only a tube. How it is used, well that is where it really pays off.

Just out 🔥🔥 Hydrocortisone in severe community acquired pneumonia - results from REMAP-CAP 7 day fixed dose hydrocortisone - Stopped for futility 15% mortality with HC vs 9.8% with standard care. Unlikely that hydrocortisone substantially reduce mortality in CAP.

“Who is your next of kin” is my new power phrase in medicine - it can reveal so much about a patient’s nearest and dearest. What is your power phase?

Storm Eowyn: Please expect severe disruption to bridge availability tomorrow. If winds are as forecast it is highly likely there will be a bridge closure during morning rush hour and lasting most of the day. Please check our updates before you travel. @trafficscotland

@jfdwolff I saw INO2 the other day. I can only assume it was supposed to mean intranasal oxygen in the context of what was written. Never mind new antibiotics, we need anti-abbreviation medication!

"Blood thinners" - this is a reference to antiplatelets and/or anticoagulants, or if you want to refer to all of them together they're called "antithrombotics". There are probably other examples of things that annoy me. Please share your own! #medicalrecords

I know I am insufferably pedantic, but there are certain things I really hate seeing in medical records. "Anti-sickness" - these are antiemetics. Use that word. "IFM" - these are inflammatory markers, but why not just write CRP because that is what it's usually a reference to.

Next year, 2025, is the only square year most of us will see in our lifetimes (45 x 45). The last was 1936 (44 x 44), the next is 2116 (46 x 46).
