Mets SP Clay Holmes has been great despite his club’s poor record. Over 42.2 IP, he’s posting a 1.69 ERA, 0.98 WHIP. Hitters have a .000 BA vs his CB, .167 BA vs SI, .194 BA vs CH.
Happy for Wenceel Perez. The Tigers switch hitter started 2026 just 2-for-35 (.057)…found a groove this week — going 5-for-14 (.357) with a HR, 4 RBI, 3 SB, 2B, 3 BB.
We are witnessing a slaughter in Pittsburgh. Through FOUR innings, the Pirates have 13 hits, 10 (!) walks, 15 runs, and every single player in their lineup has 1+ RBI. My goodness.
I mean…Sal Frelick MUST know I cannot chug until this weekend. That’s another home run for the Brewers outfielder…now up to 3 on the young season. Expect a long video Saturday!
Alex Cora is a father and still owed $12M+ by the Red Sox…I don’t blame him one bit for declining the Phillies offer. I also don’t blame Dave Dombrowski one bit for trying to hire him.
All of the sudden, Xander Bogaerts is sporting an OPS of .804 (94 ABs). The veteran SS has smoked 4 HR while driving in 16 with 2 SB. 1-for-1, 2B this Sunday, the Friars are DEEP…
If you told me after their WBC performances that the Red Sox would fire Alex Cora + Peter Fatse 27 games into the 2026 MLB season, I would’ve called you absolutely daffy.
Riley Greene keeps on keeping on. The Tigers OF went 2-for-3 with a HR, 2 RBI, R, BB in DET’s win today…OPSing .840 across 90 ABs, hitting for a higher AVG than usual (.289).
Through the Phillies 8-game losing streak, their pitchers have posted a 9.41 K/9, 2nd in MLB since 4/12. A good example as to why K/9 can be misleading. And why Ks aren’t everything.
Toronto has fallen towards the bottom of the AL, and Ernie Clement is doing his best to keep them out of the basement…over his last week: 12-for-30 (.400) w/ 5 2B!
Coy James is a name I’m circling. The Nationals 5th round selection from the 2025 MLB Draft is enjoying A ball…2 HR, 12 RBI, 10 SB (!), 134 wRC+. Only 19 years old.
