We ended this year's series of #ENGR3566 guest presentations on a high note with Dr. @cfirminger from @UCalgary & @McCaigInstitute talking about his studies of tendon strain in cycling!

Happy #IronRing day to our @LUEngrCompSci students & congratulations to all those who will be taking part in the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer later today.

@thatdslrguy @EmmaNeupert @Jon_White2 @UoPSportScience @thatdslrguy & @rebeccaefbarone : I'm not able to share their slides, but I've linked the article that one student found which proved very popular with the class. It should hopefully give you a bit more info.

@WBLievers @EmmaNeupert @Jon_White2 @UoPSportScience Hi Brent! Being an F1 fan, is it possible to access the slideshow or the presentation? The screenshots you attached seemed interesting to me. And, no issues if you can't. Thanks.

Enjoyed having Dr. Chris Mills, Dr. @EmmaNeupert, & @Jon_White2 join us virtually from @UoPSportScience yesterday. Two great talks on seat design for F1 drivers & the effects of track bends/inclination on running biomechanics!

Another great pair of guest lectures this morning in #ENGR3566 from Andrew Koshyk & Michael Kuczynski (@mkuczyns14) ! We learned about the fatigue behaviour of equine bone, the use of dynamic CT to understand thumb motion in OA, & how interdisciplinary biomedical research can be.

Grateful to Dr. @giacomo_valle, currently at @UChicago, for his incredible guest lecture this morning about the state of the art in providing sensory feedback in prosthetics. Amazing stuff!

@PresD_MSVU I have never visited the metro Schenectady area, so I am not sure how that affects my analysis, but did you see the beautiful 🐘 photo?

Thanks to whoever set up this memorial in the atrium to the 14 women killed in the 1989 École Polytechnique attack.

As per tradition, p(r)izes were handed out today in #ENGR1501 to the top 3 teams in our “Ring-Pong 2023” engineering design challenge!
Always interested to see the order in which the pies get selected. This year it was:
🥇apple
🥈pecan
🥉cherry
Which would you choose first?

This is an exception to the "clean the chalk boards before you leave" standard I wish more people would follow. #ClassroomChalkboardArt

@jboerckel Are you interested in standard graphs on x-y axes or something more sophisticated?
Do you have an examples of the data visualization you'd like to do, ones you'd rate as beautiful and effective?

@WBLievers Wonder if it was the illustration that got the patent approved, because I’m quite certain that the invention itself is rather pointless, because…

We covered an introduction to intellectual property this morning in #ENGR1501, which allowed me to share the greatest patent figure ever created with my students.
U.S. Patent 4,656,917 granted to Edward L. Van Halen.
