Most will pick up 1-2" this evening into the night. Not a lot...but enough to create some slick surfaces.

It’s a tradition…grabbing a Shamrock Shake on St. Patrick’s Day! If you grab one today, 25 cents will support Ronald McDonald Houses in the upper Midwest @mcdmnwind

@vgspdr1951 I said 10-14” for the metro…2” off is more like a bobble than actually dropping the ball. At least we didn’t get 20-25” like southeast MN.

There's going to be some snow on your shillelagh tomorrow for St. Patrick's Day. Not a biggie like this weekend...but enough to cover the Blarney Stone.

@bloisolson Yes...wind is still causing some icy patches on the roads, but the storm is history.

2nd round went much faster. Except for that lousy plow hump.

@MuenchowMatt In the metro…later at night Saturday. It really stacks up overnight and Sunday morning.

@WCCOShaffer Chris, can you approximate start time for the storm? I have to believe the first batch of precip will melt on contact, but when will it start to collect and cause problems?

Don't be surprised if several counties wind up in a Blizzard Warning Sunday as the wind picks up. Stay tuned to WCCO for numerous updates before and during our storm.

This is step one of our weekend storm. Will there be snow...yes. Will it hit later Saturday into Sunday...yes. Will it get windy Sunday...yes. Will we get a foot of snow...some of you will. Model data still hinting just south of the metro.

@safetyJeff47 Heaviest band setting up just south of metro. Perhaps a foot of snow there...maybe 6-12" from north metro to south metro.

Hang onto your hats...small dogs...your children. We are in a High Wind Warning until 10am tomorrow because of this wicked wind of the northwest. Your house may rattle and hum keeping you awake tonight.

Tomorrow afternoon through Friday morning will be rough across northern Minnesota. Expect heavy, accumulating snow coupled with strong winds. Southern MN and the metro...we likely get our rough patch this weekend.
