The game was tight with the hosts leading by one after 20 and 40 minutes and the game tied at 4 early in the final frame, before two goals in a span of 6 seconds from Brayden Bushnoe and Coady Adamson, coupled with a pair of late short handed goals gave Ladner the series win.

For the fifth straight season, the Ladner Pioneers are provincial champions. Ladner sealed the deal Saturday night at home with an 8-4 win over the Victoria Shamrocks and win the final series 3-0.

The Shamrocks led 2-1 after 20 minutes and outshot the Pioneers 54-41 but could not close the deal in a 7-6 loss at The Q Centre Sunday. Victoria’s Rylee Marsh led scoring with 3 goals and 1 assist, while Ladner’s Buque turned aside 48 of 54 shots for the win.

Game 1 of the best-of-5 semi-final between mainland rivals Ladner and Coquitlam went Thursday night with the Pioneers taking the opener 14-9 at Ladner Leisure Centre. Coady Adamson (7A) led the attack while Alex Buque and Matt Hills combined to stop 46 of 55 shots.
