This Memorial Day, we reflect on and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. 🇺🇸

On this date in 1913, Disney Legend Peter Ellenshaw was born. Credited on more than 30 features, Ellenshaw contributed to the Oscar®-winning special effects on "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" (1954), then a decade later won another Oscar® for his work on "Mary Poppins" (1964).

For our last #MainStreetMay, we're taking it back to the beginning. Visit our special exhibition Happiest Place on Earth: The Disneyland Story to see concepts of buildings that would become part of the iconic Main Street, U.S.A. silhouette that we've come to know and love. 🏬

Happy birthday Bobby Burgess! 🐭 In 2015, Bobby Burgess came to the museum to talk about his book "Ears & Bubbles: Dancing My Way from The Mickey Mouse Club to The Lawrence Welk Show". 🕺

Fishing for something to be "glad" about? 🎣 We're Pollyanna-ish about the 66th anniversary of Disney Legend Hayley Mills' Disney debut, which resulted in an Academy Juvenile Award® win. Filming took place about 50 miles north of The Walt Disney Family Museum in Santa Rosa, CA.

On this date 105 years ago, Disney Legend Harrison "Buzz" Price was born. Price, a research economist for the Stanford Research Institute, helped determine the economic feasibility and perfect location of Disneyland—early 1950s Anaheim, as seen in this aerial photograph.

For this #MainStreetMay, we're celebrating a land on the move! 🚂 🚗🐴 Main Street, U.S.A., features many modes of turn-of-the-century transportation, including horse-drawn streetcars, vintage automobiles, and the iconic "Disneyland Railroad".

While general admission is free year-round for active, retired, and veteran military personnel, we are proud to be part of Blue Star Museums, extending free admission to active-duty military personnel and up to five of their family members from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day.

We would like to wish a happy birthday to Margaret Kerry! 🧚 Kerry, born on this day in 1929, performed live-action reference for the role of Tinker Bell in Walt Disney's "Peter Pan" (1953). In 2023, we briefly exhibited the ballet slippers she wore during production.

On this date in 1904, Spanish Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí was born. Walt and Dalí had a decades-long friendship, chronicled in our 2015 special exhibition, Disney and Dalí: Architects of the Imagination.

On this date in 1954, future museum co-founder and Board President (and Walt's daughter) Diane Disney married Ron Miller, future President of Walt Disney Productions and museum Board President. 💒
