This bug never showed up in my demos. It only appeared when I started testing like a real user instead of a developer. That changed how I think about optimistic UI.

@orionintx @ThePracticalDev That's a good way to put it. I can see the case for an explicit set operation once retries and concurrent requests enter the picture. In this post I was focused on the client-side race, so I kept the example as a toggle.
