From the heart of Beirut 🇱🇧, the second Regional Forum on the Women, Peace and Security Agenda kicked off, jointly organised by the National Commission for Lebanese Women and the EuroMed Feminist Initiative. The Forum is held over two days, 3–4 February 2026, with broad participation from representatives of governments, civil society organisations, international organisations, donors, and regional and international experts. The Forum opened with welcoming and opening remarks delivered by Ms. Nathalie Zaarour, Executive Board Secretary of the National Commission for Lebanese Women, followed by a speech by H.E. The speakers expressed a clear political and strategic commitment to supporting the implementation of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, strengthening the protection of women and girls, and expanding women’s roles in peace processes and decision-making. On its first day, the Forum discussed state commitments to implementing the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, the role of feminist civil society in protection, resilience-building, and community-led implementation, as well as the responsibilities of the international community in supporting coherent, sustainable, and accountable implementation of the Agenda at both national and regional levels. The Forum takes place within the framework of a three-year regional project entitled “Strengthening Women’s Civil Society Organizations to Implement the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine”, implemented by the EuroMed Feminist Initiative and funded by the Support Fund for Feminist Organisations of the French Development Agency and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
