Westminster Elementary Instrumental Music

On Jan. 17, Mr. Thompson had the pleasure of being the guest conductor of the middle school honor band at the 2026 Franklin-Fulton County Band Festival in Waynesboro, PA. The band consisted of 100+ students nominated by their teachers from Franklin and Fulton County schools.

Happy New Year! Before winter break, our 4th and 5th grade instrumental music ensembles performed in their winter concert at Winters Mill HS. Congrats to all performers for an excellent concert!

On Monday Night, the WHS Marching Band held it's annual Senior Recognition and Feeder School Night. Instrumental music students from the WHS feeder elementary and middle schools joined the band on the field for a special performance at the end of the evening.

We are a month into our 5th grade instrumental music classes. Some scenes from what our second-year players have been doing.

This past Saturday, the @CarrollArtsCtr hosted their annual Instrument Tryout Day for 4th grade students. Kids had the opportunity to try out any of the instruments offered in CCPS beginning instrumental music programs. Signups for WES instrumental music are due this Friday!

When the 4th graders let the band director crash their popsicle party. A great way to end the year. Have a great summer!

The end of the school year means that it’s time for instrument inventory and check in. Thanks to some awesome 4th graders who helped with this!

The WES Intermediate Band and Orchestra performed in Music In The Parks in Hershey, PA on May 30. Both groups received 1st place in their divisions, with the orchestra receiving a rating of “Excellent” and the band receiving a rating of “Superior.” Congrats to all students!

4th grade teacher Mrs. Wiens was ready for her big crash cymbal solo! That is, until she ran off the stage! Did she come back and finish rehearsal? You can find out at our Spring concert next Thursday, May 22, 7:00 PM at Westminster High School.

Today was the first full band rehearsal of the Spring for our Beginning Band. This is the first time these students have performed music with everyone playing different parts.

Oops! I might be a month late posting these. Some images from our winter concert on Dec. 19. Our 5th grade ensembles have their next performance at the Westminster Region Side By Side Concert on Feb. 13, 7 PM at Westminster High School.

Students at Westminster Elementary School were greeted by the 5th grade orchestra performing winter music in the school lobby during student arrival this morning.

The WES 5th Grade Intermediate Band and a small ensemble of 5th grade string students performed in front of the Carroll County Public Library in Westminster on Saturday afternoon as part of Downtown Westminster’s winter celebrations. Congrats to all who performed!

Our 5th grade band students had their final group lessons before their first winter performance this weekend. Come see the WES 5th Grade Intermediate Band this Saturday 12/14 at 12:00 PM in front of the Carroll County Public Library in Downtown Westminster.

The WHS marching band hosted area elementary and middle school instrumental music students at their annual marching band celebration on Wednesday night. Congrats to all students who performed in this event!

Our students enjoyed a performance this morning by the Westminster HS marching band. As a special treat, six of our 5th grade band students joined the marching band for their final song. Congrats to all on a great performance!

The Carroll Arts Center hosted the Instrument Tryout Day for CCPS 4th grade students on Saturday. This event gave students an opportunity to try band and orchestra instruments as they decide which instrument they would like to play in their school’s instrumental music program.
