SCOTUS' 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision eviscerated the process in the Voting Rights Act that our nation had long relied on to prevent state and local officials from implementing voting changes that discriminate against voters of color. #RestoreTheVRA

10 years ago today, SCOTUS' Shelby v. Holder decision unleashed a torrent of pervasive and persistent discrimination in voting. Congress must put an end to this by passing the Freedom to Vote Act and restoring the VRA. #RestoreTheVRA

On this day in 2013, SCOTUS gutted the preclearance section of the Voting Rights Act, leaving us with less federal voting protections than we had 10 years ago. Congress must restore the VRA to prevent states from enacting discriminatory voting measures. #RestoreTheVRA

The Supreme Court’s disastrous 2013 Shelby County v. Holder decision left voting rights, especially those of people of color, exposed to unchecked attacks by extremist state lawmakers. It is up to Congress to restore the VRA and protect our freedom to vote. #RestoreTheVRA
