This week we honor a medical specialty built on innovation, precision, and an unwavering commitment to patient safety. In 1933, Dr. Arthur Guedel described his newly developed rubber airway, which posed less risk to the patient than earlier oral airways made of metal. #PAW26

Anesthesiologists have been powering innovation in patient care for generations. Dr. John Bonica was one such innovator when he instituted the first Obstetrical Anesthesiology Service in the U.S. offering 24-hour, seven-days-a-week coverage, including regional analgesia. #PAW26
