Coach Matt Rhule Monday Press Conference Notes | USC -Dylan Raiola will try to practice tomorrow -Heinrich will be ready -Dana Holgerson will call the plays vs USC. and serve as offensive coordinator for the rest of the season -Dana has a long history of success offensively - gives us a fresh perspective -Rhule coached against Dana when he was at West Virginia, someone he respects as a coach -Dana likes our coaches, players, and felt like he could help -Bringing someone in midseason is unique, but it’s what’s needed -Coach Satterfield and Thomas are all hands on deck getting Dana up-to-speed -Coach Rhule is excited to have someone in the building who’s been a HC -Dana’s offense is tough, runs the ball, and is explosive -Marcus Satterfield is about a good man as I know, he could’ve said fire me, give me my money I’m gonna go home, but he didn’t.. he didn’t.” -Dana can’t come in and change the offense, but can look at our personnel and see what we do well -Tony White has adjusted his defense to our personnel -this is not about next year, this is about right now -Dana has done a good job of saying “I’m just here to help” -being out on the field in practice, it’s all flowed really seamlessly -Dylan Raiola trusts Rhule and the program, focused on what’s next -players need to play and make plays -don’t know that we’re going to start scoring 50 points a game, but hoping for steady improvement -Dana is a very aggressive playcaller - wanted someone aggressive to offset Coach Rhule’s mindset -Coach Rhule doesn’t think Dana would come here if he didn’t think he could help and if we didn’t have the right personnel -Mehkai Nelson is a dog -Coach Rhule did not simplify the offense well enough for Satterfield and Thomas -going to keep the offensive gameplan vs USC as close to the chest as possible -trying to teach the same process and get better everyday -thinks Dana is a great fit with the players, and with Coach Rhule -“I tried to fix it, I hadn’t been able to fix it, so I called someone I knew could fix it. I think Dana will fix it” -need to simplify the offense for the receivers to go get open -Heinrich is the ultimate team guy - he’s been on the punt team recently now he’s potentially starting again at QB -Lincoln Riley will find a way to run the football -the QB is a dual-threat player -thought the team practiced excellent last night -need to find the most competitive guys, put them out there and turn them loose -we shouldn’t be in a good mood, they should be pissed off -The impact of our fans on the road is always elite #GBR
