Philippou: New CBA will allow high-performing players on rookie contracts to earn larger fourth-year salaries. Players who make all-WNBA first or second team in their first three years can make the max in their fourth year. Players previously named MVP can make the supermax in their fourth year. Provision is called EPIC (Exceptional Performance on Initial Contract).

You can't spell Wilson without a W ⭐️ The Gamecocks’ first national title was led by A’ja Wilson! Over six games, she averaged 19.2 PPG and 2.7 blocks 🤯 #WFinalFour

A’ja Wilson is set to sign a $1.4 million supermax deal with the Las Vegas Aces, making her the first player in WNBA history to earn over $1 million in a single season. Just last year, maximum salaries were under $250K. That’s how fast the ground is shifting. For years, WNBA players have delivered elite performance, championship moments, cultural relevance, and global visibility... often without compensation that reflected it. This new CBA changes the math. And A’ja is the first to cross that line. What does this mean for the future of women’s sports and who do you think should be up next? 🏀🖤

If we’re building a team with one goal—winning in the NCAA Tournament—and choosing strictly from active players, the pick at point guard is simple: South Carolina’s Raven Johnson. The NCAA’s only active player with multiple national championships and the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Johnson gives you (5.4) assists per game with one of the best assist-to-turnover ratios in the country, while taking pride in shutting down the opponent’s best player. That’s a combination that’s hard to pass up—especially in March. And she’s already proven it on this stage. During South Carolina’s last title run, Johnson averaged (4.3) assists with a (6.5) assist-to-turnover ratio and (2.8) steals. She was one of just two champions to record multiple 5-assist, 0-turnover games in a single tournament. That included a 14-point, 5-rebound, 6-assist, 0-turnover performance against Indiana, followed by another clean showing in the Final Four against NC State with 13 points and 5 assists. She also finished that run with 17 steals, tied for the eighth-most by a national champion, and became the first player this century to record 25+ assists with fewer than five turnovers in a single tournament run. This season, she’s taken full control as the floor general. Johnson has been at her best against top competition, averaging (11.2) points, (5.4) assists, and (2.3) steals+blocks in ranked matchups. She’s also shooting it better than ever, knocking down 40.2% from three. When the game tightens up, you want the ball in the hands of someone who won’t fold, won’t turn it over, and will guard on the other end. That’s Raven Johnson. If you’re trying to win six straight, she’s the one you trust to run it. 🪄
