A Worcester researcher is part of a $15M effort to tackle a common — and deadly — heart valve diseases ❤️ @WPI’s Kristen Billiar is studying how blood flow and cholesterol interact inside the heart, with the goal of stopping the disease before it starts. theworcesterguardian.org/f/wpi-research…

WPI researcher Kristen Billiar is part of a $15M @AmericanHeart initiative to uncover what causes aortic heart valve disease. His lab will use valve-on-a-chip tech to study how disordered blood flow & tissue stretching make valve cells vulnerable to Lp(a) & inflammation, triggering calcification. 🫀 bit.ly/4mZeijC #HeartHealth #Biomedical

Drawing inspiration from nature! Robotics engineering research at WPI is developing search and rescue drones that can navigate by echolocation, just like bats do. The goal is to make searches possible in dark and otherwise challenging environments. Nitin Sanket, assistant professor, and Colin Balfour, a robotics engineering student, demonstrated their technology and spoke with Jacob Wycoff with CBS Boston. Watch and read the story here: cbsn.ws/4vM4WeR. @wbz @4cast4you

Rockets and WPI. Name a more iconic duo. 🚀 It's only natural that when NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration needed people to help send astronauts to the Moon, a WPI alum was part of the team. Jason Hutt '98 serves as the Orion Program Systems Engineering & Integration Manager and Orion Human Rating Lead for NASA's Artemis II mission, the first crewed flight to the Moon since 1972, and was selected as one of its Mission Evaluation Room Managers. "This is a dream made real." Read his full story here: bit.ly/3NPLw85
