In Asia, Australia and Malaysia sit more pretty on that chart. Meanwhile, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and South Korea do not.

Worst FX year-to-date in Asia: Indian rupee -5.6% Indonesian rupiah -4.2% Philippine peso -4.2% Okay, so what you say? Well AUD is up 8.5% and MYR is up 2.8% and the CNY is up 2.4%. So this is not just a dollar strength story but relative weakness.

Good morning Asia,
South Korea released its April CPI and the direction is up to 2.6%YoY but core is steady at 2.2% (excluding energy and food)! Well, it threw about 17bn of subsidies at the economy and so price increase should be much less than say the Philippines but given higher transport and utilities, the trend is still higher.
So what? We think the BOK will increase rates but at a much more measured pace than say the Philippines. The new governor @HyunSongShin will have time to see the net impact of export-led growth, supply shocks and fiscal measures to mitigate it. Ultimately, we think rates will go to 3% from 2.5% but the next meeting (28 May) will be a hold because inflation is still contained.

The Philippines April inflation rose sharply to 7.2%YoY on rice and fuel price hikes. We had predicted that this would be the most vulnerable country in Asia due to its deficits of energy and food. We expect further hikes for the BSP even as demand slows from higher prices. Divergence is widening in Asia and the Iran War and AI are widening it.

During crashes:
- #Altcoins go down first.
- #Bitcoin follows.
- Nasdaq comes after that.
We've had that part.
Now, oil is peaking, Gold has peaked.
The volatility goes down on Gold, means that the risk of holding that asset is decreased.
That means that allocators are buying back in #Bitcoin for upside, as Bitcoin is heavily undervalued.
During bounces:
- Nasdaq bounces up first.
- #Bitcoin follows in 1-3 weeks after that.
- #Altcoins follow in 1-3 weeks after that.
We're transitioning towards the last part.

New Zealand Police have been heavily criticised after photos emerged of barefoot officers bowing during a visit to a Sikh temple in Auckland.
Photos shared by Punjabi radio station RadioSpice show a large group of local cops wearing Sikh headgear lining up to bow inside the Gurudwara Sri Dasmesh Darbar late last month.
The images were captioned: “Talented officers of NZ police today visited Gurudwara Sri Dasmesh Darbar Sahib, Papatoetoe, and gained information about the ‘Miri’ virtues of Sikh religion.”
The post sparked fury from New Zealanders after screenshots were posted by popular political commentator Holyhekatuiteka on X , where he pointed out that Sikhs are allowed to ride motorcycles without helmets at certain speeds, and carry religious kirpan daggers, saying “so much for one law for all”.
One set of rules for native/ ethnic Westerners & another for everyone else.
