These ones turned out to be Pichia manshurica yeasts:)

Rarely do I see naturally occurring #yeast colonies:) These grew on fermented beans that I made, later they have been isolated and deposited in my collection. #yeastdiversity

Tasting our #kveik #yeast ale made with traditional herbs: juniper and alder branch, hops (EKG), walnut leaf, yarrow, meadwort, bogbean, and St. John's wort brewed in August! Absolutely fantastic! Heavily relied on the book of @larsga for choosing the herbs.

We arrived at beautiful Lake Balaton in Hungary :) for the conference of the Hungarian Society for Microbiology w/ @RenatoKovacs1 @nmth_blnt @harmath198. Mycology section tomorrow! #yeast

The three meads with them were perceived as "wine-like", "too fruity, sweet, topical", and "Beglian-beer-like, deep". The 4th category was "dull, tasteless". I tried to associate most aroma compunds with aromas. There is a clear difference between the 3 yeasts!

1/2 Our #mead project with students is almost ready to publish. Headspace-GC-MS results are being evaluated by a colleague with great experience in winemaking, analysis, and #yeast biology, Zoltán Kállai:) The first results reay show arome profiles of 3 mead yeasts.

Arrived back from #yeasts2024 in South Africa! It was a great experience for me and my group, we made tons of notes, got plenty of ideas, and were very happy to introduce our Compendium of #Saccharomyces genomes to the community! Many thanks for the organizers! Enkosi, Dankie!
