I’m also a social studies teacher from NC and she’s 100% right. The South didn’t receive the consequences that they should have for the Civil War. The confederates should have all been executed for treason. Instead we showed them mercy and they created the Klan which engaged in terrorism and eroded what progress the GOP made for black people. The Democrat Party eventually returned to a powerhouse when it should have been forcefully abolished after the Civil War. It was one of the greatest mistakes our country has ever done. And yes, so many people who live here are racist. Look what happened to Mark Robinson. Don’t pretend that it isn’t. I literally have Klan where I live. It’s disgusting.

Born in Caledonia, Arkansas, Sergeant Major John L. Canley became one of America’s greatest Marines.
During the Battle of Huế in 1968, then-Gunnery Sergeant Canley took command after his company commander was critically wounded. Though wounded himself, he refused evacuation, led his Marines through six days of brutal combat, repeatedly rescued wounded Marines under enemy fire, and inspired everyone around him by leading from the front.
Originally awarded the Navy Cross, his fellow Marines spent decades fighting to have his heroism properly recognized. In 2018, 50 years later, he received the Medal of Honor.
Arkansas has produced many heroes. Sergeant Major John L. Canley stands among the very greatest.

Randy DeRoy Mantooth, known professionally as Randolph Mantooth (September 19, 1945 – July 9, 2026), died yesterday at the age of 80.
Mantooth was best known for playing paramedic John Gage on the NBC drama Emergency!, which ran from 1972 to 1979 alongside Kevin Tighe as his partner, Roy DeSoto. Discovered in New York by a Universal Studios talent agent while starring in Philadelphia, Here I Come!, Mantooth built his early resume with guest roles on Adam-12, Marcus Welby, M.D., and The Bold Ones before Emergency! made him a television star. He performed most of his own stunts and later voiced the character in the animated spinoff Emergency+4.
He was a life-long supporter of firefighters, paramedics and EMT's.
