His comfort zone is sitting in front of a computer running statistical analysis on prospect acquisition for team rebuilding. Being a seller. So if you're wondering why he's sitting on his hands doing nothing for this team in contention, its because he doesnt know what to do. He's never been in this position before.

Don Kelly said the decision to pull Bubba Chandler was "not predetermined." It was based around not wanting to push Chandler too far after not pitching in nine days, plus Chandler had given up a hit to both Bellinger and Chisholm. Added he didn't see any fatigue from Chandler.

Time and time again I stress analytics arent ruining baseball and stop with that ish! Analytics is just information. How you interpret and use them (aka being a decision maker) is what matters. At times you gotta feel the game and know whats at your disposal. Tonight, I'd rather see Bubba lose this game pitching his ass off than the unit that blows every game led by the guy who can't get through an inning without walking at least a batter.

The Pirates are not going to trade for Mason Miller. We’ve been down this road for years. How often have they come away w/ THE name of the deadline? It’s often “they were interested” or “they were close” to X, Y & Z. If that’s your expectation here, you’re gonna be disappointed.

Still bothers me how the depth of the #Pirates bullpen wasn’t properly addressed last offseason. So much focus put on the offense (rightly so), but the pen was largely ignored. Cherington signed Soto, and called it a day. And Soto isn’t effective now.

Well mark this as another gut wrenching loss that falls solely on the bullpen because they can’t get outs when it matters most. Could have been tied for the last wildcard spot if Soto pitched like he is paid to. Should be Santana’s last outing ever as a Pirate

You can stomp the fescue to get a stance. You can stomp the fescue to line up your shot. It just can’t affect the swing path or lie. Bryson adamantly claims it did not, and up until 90 minutes ago this was a self policing game. A game of honor where you’d take the players word for it unless you had clear and obvious evidence showing otherwise. Now they’ve said they don’t believe him and assessed a penalty with nothing more than shoddy camera angles. All pretty gross.
