I rarely have time to be engaged with Twitter these days, but wanted to share two (relatively) recent WWI-related projects I'm enjoying...

Lesson to young historians: always look beyond the archive catalogs! You never know what's been misfiled into random boxes or folders.

And yes, the report was obviously made up, although it did work its way to London as example of the global war effort against Germany

Don't know why the official didn't just work in a "little Belgium" reference in there as well...

Forgot exact wording of how official said they enlisted, but something absurd like "We want to defeat the Kaiser and save civilization."

Lastly, staff friendly & very solid selection of WWI books in the gift shop. In sum, if you like BBQ, Art Deco, and WWI history, visit KC.

2 bizarre things, though: didn't see Kitchener poster (may have missed it) & quote from a Ger soldier legitimizing 1914 francs-tireurs myth

Some neat interactive exhibits too--liked both the "audio" booths of oral history and the kids "design your own propaganda poster" bit.

Museum was, in good faith, trying to cover all dominant themes. But stronger on US dimension to WWI (and limited by phys. space, I suspect)

It appears I rarely get time to tweet these days. Was at the Natl WWI Museum in KC a few weeks ago--some good exhibits, some less good.
