Specialist Operations Training...what's that?!!! Historically known as 'Public Order Training' our remit now reaches much, much further (see bio!) Why not come and see for yourself. Our awareness events are taking place on Wednesday 12/5 and Thursday 27/5 (9am-11am & 12pm-2pm).

West Yorkshire custody suites are now all kitted out with Safety Pods. This is a tactical option for de-escalation, aiming to reduce risk of injury to officers/DOs and subjects. Training will continue to be rolled out on all custody courses and will soon be introduced on OST.

This week we have welcomed colleagues from Leeds and Ops who are with us on attachment to see what we do from behind the scenes. This opportunity is available for any officer who may have an interest in joining the department in the future, with approval from your supervision.

Has your fitness taken a hit in lockdown? Worry not PTI Nick Floyd has restarted his PTI Fitness classes at Carr Gate on a Tuesday (4pm – 5pm). Classes include cardio, circuits and more! They are proving to be very popular so don’t miss out!!!! Contact Nick Floyd for info.

A huge congratulations to the two newest members of our team, Tara and Andy, who this week have passed their OST Instructors course! They will be refining their trainer skills over the coming weeks and months with plenty of OST refresher, Custody OST and Student Officer courses!

Cohort 1 AB, Cohort 1CD and Cohort 1EF were all introduced to the world of Officer Safety Training, (OST), this week with their one day induction. Delivered over three consecutive days, the students got stuck in and worked hard. Well done all!! @WYP_Training @WYP_HBrear

July has been a busy month for Specialist Operations Training; delivering Public Order Level 2, Officer Safety and Taser courses. We are looking forward to training new officers in August when we welcome the PEQF Cohorts to Officer Safety Training #OST #joblikenoother

We have recently collaborated with @WYPHorses who found time out of their busy schedule to support the training of initial and refresher Level 2 PSU, improving staff awareness of these essential tactics & raising standards. We look forward to working together again soon!
