Air Canada Captain Who Flew 900 Passenger Flights for 27 Years With Fake Licence Faces Fra¥d Probe
A former Air Canada captain has been charged after Canadian authorities alleged he spent nearly three decades flying commercial aircraft with forged credentials.
Geoffrey Wall, 59, of Barrie, worked for Air Canada for 27 years, joining as a first officer in 1998 and becoming a captain in 2009 before retiring in 2025.
According to Peel Regional Police, Wall flew about 900 domestic and international flights and earned millions of dollars while allegedly using a f+ke airline transport pilot licence (ATPL), a qualification required to captain large passenger aircraft.
Investigators said irregularities in his licence documents were discovered during a routine evaluation at Toronto Pearson International Airport in March 2025, triggering investigations by Transport Canada and later police.
While Wall held a valid commercial pilot licence, authorities said he never obtained the ATPL required to command aircraft such as Boeing 767, 777 and 787 jets.
Police also alleged he tried to cover up the fra¥d by filing a false police report.
Wall has been charged with fra¥d over $5,000, uttering forged documents, possession of a counterfeit mark and public mischief. He is due in court in Brampton on June 29.
Air Canada said passenger safety was “not compromised,” noting that all pilots undergo mandatory recurrent training and regular competency checks.
However, Peel Police Deputy Chief Nick Milonovich stressed that licensing rules exist to protect the public.
“When we misrepresent the qualifications that we have, that is a safety issue,” he said.
