@ManiKochar It could but needs some creative solutions to pitch time & space. Opportunities for unstructured safe play. We open our pitches 3 lunch times a week for free play but it has to be supervised. We get up to 50 kids there some days.

@JPR_25 Interesting comments on here. 9v9 3/4 pitch is a great format but fundamentally means less players playing than either 2 x 7 a side half pitch or 11 a side full pitch. So the debate is not fully about development but has a participation element to it. I’m torn between the two.

Scary that a kid aged 12/13 could move to the 11v11 aside game and play that format until they stop. What’s the rush to the adult game? You can’t buy back time!

@ManiKochar @TheHockeyPaper My point is that I think currently most hockey fans are hockey players or people with an already established link to the game. Until the sport reaches outside the current hockey community I think this will be an issue.

A new low for hospitality today. Warwick uni decided started eating the tiny bit of food put out before the umpires and before the away side. Pictures below sum up the few bowls of chips put out for just a team of 12. 4 lads sat without any food to eat, had to then pay for more
